reset (setupiscomplete reset to 0 as well) users would be asked to
re-run the setup script, which is harmless I think.
For full manual install, a pref setup via CLI for setupiscomplete
could do.

If I find the time I will try to replace mplayer with vlc (neither have
extremely legible command lines) and report. Vlc has many interfaces,
including a telnet one, so I guess replacement is possible. Or is it not

I've finally given up on 7.4.1, player statuses and CLI behavior are
just too weird. I need to pack a server for a friend soon (and update 2
others), so SC7.3.4 with recent firmwares do just fine I believe.

power failure. So if the power goes down while sleeping, the server will
wake at the right time.
Context is lost, but since sleep/wake is a risky business, I rely on
very little runtime context, and what I need (a stack of alarms) is
stored to disk.

On a less than perfect library, with 7.3.4 this is easy to reproduce:
random play just stops when it hits a file it cannot open. It does not
skip to the next file. Player idle-sleep.
Happened to me more than once, and I don't use srvPowerControl for idle
player detection.
