My next suggestion was to have the inspector issue a formal notice of violation
and then file an appeal taking to a higher level. Only problem is my
experience is that appeals may take longer, especially if a postponement is
encountered, than a variation attempt.

codes and standards have become unwieldy and with more complexity less
