I was under the impression that at this point and maybe at some point a year or two ago push is now supported for gmail. I assume previously it had to do with the IMAP protocol which gmail uses, Outlook uses Microsoft's Exchange Active Sync and as far as I know that is also behind iCloud email.

I'm not sure I follow your message. I've never had problems with Gmail syncing my data. I haven't set up two step authentication yet though. Gmail hasn't supported Exchange for over a year and a half now. It uses IMAP, CalDav and CardDav to sync email, calendar events and contacts. Are you sa

I'm not aware of a setting. This is just the default behavior, and I'm not sure you can change it. There are ways to force the deletion of messages from the Gmail server, but I've never used them before. I'd suggest going to Google to search. There's a lot of information out there on how Gmail
