A really good bird sighting always makes me think I have a really good
singing voice ! Being realistic, I drop the tune, but try to work out a
plan to see, and possibly hear, that avian prize ! Today was one of those

Today,at mid-afternoon, I observed 37 "Toms" (no "Hens") feeding along the

Got out for a little birding around Riverhead this gorgeous afternoon, and

Buffalo Farm, c/o Roanoke & Reeves Aves. While driving through the

The first T.V. I saw today ( Lonesome George ? ) was at ~ 1545 on the way
to help at the Riverhead "Soup Kitchen". The bird was circling over the
Bishop McGann-Mercy Catholic High School, and, as the school just graduated
its final Senior Class, prior to closing permanently due to financial

Spurred on by an email to me re: an ongoing Turkey Vulture presence in
Asharoken, I decided to check out our local roosting complex today.
Arriving at the Roanoke Ave Elementary School ~ 1730, I found 3 T.V's. atop
the school's chimney. After finding 3 of the other regular spots empty, I

On my way home from shopping on Saturday afternoon, the above bird flew
across Ostrander Ave, between Route 58 & Middle Rd, Riverhead. It landed in
a tree behind the empty bank building, and in the time it took to bring my

on the s/s of Middle Rd., between Northville Tpke and Ostrander Ave,
Riverhead !

This A.M. at ~ 1030, 14 Turkey Vultures were seen near the center of the
Roanoke Ave T.V. Roosting Complex, 7 in the spruces on the north side of
the Riverhead F.D. parking lot, with the remaining 7 flying close by.

This A.M., I started out a tad late to insure a leisurely ride east to be
on time for a dental appointment in Jamesport. My travel time took another
"hit" when I had to stop to verify that the Ross's Goose was back in the
horse pasture on the s/s Middle Rd., between Northville Tpke & Ostrander
Ave,
The R/G was sighted at the designated rendezvous s/s Middle Rd., Riverhead,
in the company of Mallard Ducks, which, because of their similar size,
could be ID without use of optics. See Rec. Rep. of 2/24/18 for more.

Northville Tpke, Riverhead, that I've known about since 1968, when I
transferred from Garden City to Riverhead, for the local utility company.
Then known as LILCO, but after ~ 7 name changes, operates now as the

This afternoon, between 1545 and 1635, I recorded between 32 and 39 TV's,
plus 3 Black Vultures. The latter were all next to each other on the
Roanoke Ave Elementary School's chimney, along with, at different times, up
to 7 TV's...and was able to get some neat pictures to boot ! There were
