I have called her Magdalene as that was apparently a traditional name or

Strictly speaking, Magdalene probably comes from Migdal meaning tower,
and more accurately refers to the tenth or tithing Aeon or Apostle of the
Left Heart (Taurus) we call the Red-Orange High Priestess, the Rosy Lover who
surrenders to the Perfection of All and receives and maintains the
Treasure-Tower of perfections: Siddhartha. In the West all the Aeons or
Apostles were masculinized, and this Tower-Keeper or tither was called
 Matthew the tax-collector.

But then, in the West, many of the attributes of the High Priestess's
partner, the triune Green Priest of the Right Heart (Libra), the one who sits
at the right hand of the Lord upon the Dharma-Throne of mercy and holds the
scales of judgment, have been attributed to the Son.

In our play, a better name for the Daughter would be WOHE, the Ascending One,
with the appropriate mantra suffixed to denote the specific Aeon through
which She is playing: For the past 2000 years, WOHE-SHWA, loosely translated
as She who Ascends through Salvation or Forgiveness -- as her soul-mate the
Piscean Son, has been known as YAHU-SHWA: He who Descends through Salvation
 or Forgiveness.

*** And in the East, She who Ascends in (9) stages of increasing light from the
Loving Mother-Goddess (beneath our feet) to the Blissful Father-God (above our
head), is commonly known as Kundalini. As reflected and played out in our
annual drama, this ascent begins at the Winter Solstice and culminates a
half-year from now at the Summer Solstice. But these seasons are like the
numbers on a clock-face, and there is more than one hand on the clock. The full
ascent also occurs every month, every day, and really every nanosecond.

the death of Jesus. In effect, the apostles and the early Christian
followers were the first hand witnesses. Thus, the historical accounts
  came from these sources.

But there is a strong argument that St. Luke wrote his own gospel based on
  his actual witness account.

St. Paul did not actually see Jesus when he was alive. But he was learned
in the Jewish tradition. He was also a Roman citizen. Thus, he understood
the meaning of Jesus' message and synthesized the teachings in universal
terms to appeal to Gentiles as well as the Jewish community.

Roughly parallel to MMY perhaps. He understood the meaning, the essence, of
SBS's view and as he gained greater familiarity with the west, he synthesized
the teachings in universal ways to appeal to secular, material westerners as
well as (some of) the hindu community.
A delicate balancing act indeed.

These synthesis and fusion approaches are always subject to criticism among
both sides: some in traditional hundu / yogic community feel its too watered
down, some secular westerners feel that its to religious. And yet, it opened
the door for many who would not have gone down the path of a less secular more
traditional practice. (SSRS has moved the ball back towards the traditional
while being quite western in terms of organization and presentation. (Though I
think that many secular westerners who easily took up TM would not go for an
AoL course.)

Paul was criticized by the traditional jewish community for being at odds with
much jewish tradition, and some gentiles thought it too jewish. But in same
way, he opened the door for many who would not have entered, o could not enter,
 the tradional jewish gateway.

If Paul had been a Gnostic, then we could infer that

And, not all Gnostics were misogynist - many of the

Gnostics may have supported a feminine theology,
which is the main hypothesis of the 'Da Vinci Code'.

Most historians accept the Markan document as the

According to Maccoby, Paul was likely not a born Jew

tried to become a Pharisee but didn't make the grade.
His disappointment turned to a sour-grapes type of

There's probably nothing in either of these two books

around AD 70.

According to some conspiracy theorists, there is a

Is it possible that Mark was a Gnostic? If so, that
would be a real stretch since apparently Mark and the

[FairfieldLife] Re: How does this Energy Siphoning and Kundalini Blocking Really Work? (was 2011)

2010-12-31 Thread tartbrain

--- In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, Vaj vajradh...@... wrote:

Thanks for the reply. This is a more plausible interpretation of what Earl
said. If this is what he intended to say (jury still out for me)
then I have fewer if any issues with his letter.
Some comments below.

Tart, the mechanics have to do with what is supposed to happen when shakti is
awakened, and what happens when it's awakened incorrectly. When shakti is
correctly awakened, prana is controlled and directed to break through the
bottom end of central channel, rising in a straight, culminating line towards
the third eye and the crown bindu, the summit.

Are you saying kundalini preceeds prana? If so, I suggest that its the reverse.
Prana is first balanced in ida and pingali, this then enables flow of prana up
shushuma (often this is mistaken for kundalini). Then, kundalini can awaken and
rise.

When it's awakened incorrectly, it leaves it's home at the muladhara-chakra
and short-circuits up the vajra-nadi (or another less likely route), which
directly activates the dalas or crown petals. When siddhis are directly
cultivated, it activates these dalas along with their associated brain areas
and virtually assures an imbalanced arising. It's the path of least resistance
for shakti yet it cannot reach the makara-bindu where samadhi begins or it's
culmination in the crown-bindu: unity.

As samskaras and doshas accumulate in this new groove, the way to awakening
is blocked, and the samskaras of vyutthana, the outward-stroke, are enhanced.
As the tradition of Shankara puts it, the path to Unity in this lifetime is
lost. They even go so far as to single out yogic flying.

I found the rapid and deep cycles of breath in TMSP much like AoL sahdarshan
kriya. Huge amounts of prana are injected into the system with TMSP.

With regards to TM and channels, MMY said (I heard in person), ida, pingali and
shushuma are very narrow, like 1/100 of diameter of a human hair. Prana cannot
normally arise in them, it is too thick. In TM breath becomes very fine, and
this enables prana to become very refined, thinner and then it can arise in
these channels.

And separately, he said, as is common knowledge in most yoga circles, that
pranayam (as well as asanas to a degree) balance the flow of prana in ida and
pingali.

So with pranayam, TMSP spontaneous deep and rapid breathing, and TM refined
breath and prana, there appears to be all of the tools needed for a creating
free flow of prana in the shusmua -- which then enables balanced flow of
kundalini.

So I'm guessing this probably isn't what you thought it meant: it's not so
much about blatant vampirism, but a scarring of consciousness at the pranic
level, causing the person to stop evolving and enter a type of servitude. So
in a sense, a disreputable teacher can use this to keep students sticking
around, and therefore syphoning off their energy, for what they want, their
 world plans.

Fortunately, most people who once did the TMSP, have long since quit.

Interestingly of the two primary TM successors, Deepak Chopra and SSRS, only
Chopra (I am told) continued to instruct in siddhi cultivation. In fact SSRS
actually added a rigourous pranayama, the traditional prerequisite for mantra
 meditation.

[FairfieldLife] New Interviews on Buddha at the Gas Pump and an appeal for donations

2010-12-31 Thread Rick Archer
I've been having technical difficulties lately with the software that
records Skype conversations, and have been working with the software company
in Australia to resolve them. They recently sent me a hard drive which I
sent to them with 250 GB of files on it (representing one interview) so they
could diagnose the problem. They always come up with solutions, so I'm
optimistic. Since the last announcement, three new interviews have been
posted:

Scott Kiloby http://batgap.com/scott-kiloby/ - a well-known non-duality
teacher. I really enjoyed this interview and it was heartening to see that
he and some other neo-advaita teachers are evolving beyond the absolutist
view that many espouse. This is the one I sent to Australia. We'll
eventually get the video online, but right now it's just audio.

Kranti Ananta http://batgap.com/kranti-ananta/ - A British woman living
in Thailand whose awakening occurred while serving time in a Japanese
prison. She's had quite an adventure.

Sarojini http://batgap.com/sarojini/ - Taped just last night. This is a
follow-up interview. If you haven't listened to the first one
http://batgap.com/sarojini/ , you might want to do that first. Very lively
discussion. Unfortunately, software problems caused the video to be lost,
but the audio is intact.

Regarding the donations, this project is self-supporting. I neither derive
income from it (although I wouldn't mind having it become my day job), nor
do I fund it (by agreement with my wife). Occasionally, people click the
Donate button on http://batgap.com and send in an unsolicited donation, for
which I'm very grateful. These funds are used to buy needed hardware and
software. One of my guests (Swami G) donated a high-quality webcam. Each of
my guests uses this and a headset, and sends them to the next guest. This
assures much better video and audio quality than most people's equipment
would provide. Part of the current need for funds is to buy a second,
Mac-compatible, webcam and headset. I may also get better quality video
lights for my home studio so I don't look like I have a skin disease, and
if I can raise the funds, I'd love to attend the Science and Non-Duality
conference in San Rafael next fall, where guests and potential guests will
speak. I may even conduct some interviews out there. So if you feel
inclined, go to http://batgap.com and click the donate button. If you don't
feel like messing with PayPal, I can send you my address.

The next interview will be with Michael Fischman, the President of the Art
of Living Foundation in the US. This is the organization that presents the
teachings of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

I have had similar thoughts. However there is some lose ends. Satan as the
manager of Hell fits the limited view Saturn image -- creating a hellish like
experience as attachments to things (and ideas) are pulled or ripped away.
However, Satan is also seen as the one tempting beings towards sin, that is
to become attached. That is not a role I see in Saturn. It might be more Venus,
as lovely as she is, who bestows great beauty, comfort and luxury.

Its the difference between modern Santa Claus and Shani Claus. Santa Claus, or
should I say Santa Claws, in the modern sense (not the elf/angel type being
that seeks and promotes the welfare of children -- which I think may be the
real template for the Santa Clause myth). Santa Claws and most of the modern
Christmas practice is Satan -- whereby overeating. eating of unhealthy things,
over drinking, over consumption, commercialization of the holy, and great
vanity are promoted. Shani Claus, as Shani, brings the counter flow, the
counter swing of the pendulum, towards non-attachment, freedom and balance.

So I am seeing Saturn as one part of the Satan myth / archetype and Venus (even
Jupiter at times) being another aspect of Satan.

The truer holiday spirit is Shani Claus that invite all of the children of the
world to themselves offer up presents (things and attachments) under the Yule
Tree, so that Saturn may free them from that bondage. And the burning of the
Yule Log, from the Yule tree, is similar to the tradition of a student offering
a bundle of kindling to their guru as the first step of the relationship. The
kindling being symbolic of the fire the guru will create to burn all of the
students samskaras.

Samskara may be another root of Satan as well as the Santa Claws.

Santa Claws and Shani Claus may be the polar points of duality, that are
eventually unified in the ONE Santa Shiva.

In Tibetan (and Hindu) tantras the number of chakras and their specific nature
vary quite a bit from practice to practice, which is rather moot eventually, as
one gains instruction on ones own nadi-constitution, understanding one's own

Thanks for the reply. This is a more plausible interpretation of what Earl
said. If this is what he intended to say (jury still out for me)
then I have fewer if any issues with his letter.
 Some comments below.

It seems to me it was part informative letter and part processing/catharsis for
him.

Tart, the mechanics have to do with what is supposed to happen when shakti
is awakened, and what happens when it's awakened incorrectly. When shakti
is correctly awakened, prana is controlled and directed to break through
the bottom end of central channel, rising in a straight, culminating line
towards the third eye and the crown bindu, the summit.

Are you saying kundalini preceeds prana? If so, I suggest that its the
reverse. Prana is first balanced in ida and pingali, this then enables flow
of prana up shushuma (often this is mistaken for kundalini). Then, kundalini
 can awaken and rise.

No there are pranas which have to be balanced for kundalini to take the correct
route, otherwise it can (for some people) short-circuit. Others may just happen
to have the right balance of mental disposition and outlook so that they'll
awaken in a balanced way.

It's the path of least
resistance for shakti yet it cannot reach the makara-bindu where samadhi
begins or it's culmination in the crown-bindu: unity.

As samskaras and doshas accumulate in this new groove, the way to awakening
is blocked, and the samskaras of vyutthana, the outward-stroke, are
enhanced. As the tradition of Shankara puts it, the path to Unity in this
lifetime is lost. They even go so far as to single out yogic flying.

I found the rapid and deep cycles of breath in TMSP much like AoL sahdarshan
kriya. Huge amounts of prana are injected into the system with TMSP.

I've never learned the sudarshan-kriya, but always enjoyed the fast pranayama
in the TMSP.

With regards to TM and channels, MMY said (I heard in person), ida, pingali
and shushuma are very narrow, like 1/100 of diameter of a human hair. Prana
cannot normally arise in them, it is too thick. In TM breath becomes very
fine, and this enables prana to become very refined, thinner and then it
 can arise in these channels.

And separately, he said, as is common knowledge in most yoga circles, that
pranayam (as well as asanas to a degree) balance the flow of prana in ida and
 pingali.

It's true, that can work some of the time with some people.

So with pranayam, TMSP spontaneous deep and rapid breathing, and TM refined
breath and prana, there appears to be all of the tools needed for a creating
free flow of prana in the shusmua -- which then enables balanced flow of
 kundalini.

For some people that will work. Since there (unfortunately) never was any
research done on what specific predisposing factors (genetic, developmental,
environmental) were present in people with rough risings, it's hard to know
precisely, although private research (outside the TMO) has taken place.

IME, unless siddhi cultivation is harnessed along with either utter dispassion
and detachment or to generate a form of universal love of other life, it tends
to play against oneself rather than for oneself.

Agreed, Tart; not all of human evil or unconscious pain is embodied in
Saturn, by any means. As we've discussed, in my play every one of the twelve
Aeons or Archetypes has a shadow-side which shall in good time be brought to
consciousness, accepted, understood and embraced whole-heartedly (not to be
confused with acting it out), as a part of our own ISness to be integrated,
healed, made one with Us.

Shadow-Saturn is indeed primarily Old Nick the rebellious trickster and
thief. Shadow-Venus as temptress is indeed another piece of the puzzle (though
in my play shadow-Venus would primarily embody envy and hatred, while
shadow-Persephone would be greed and jealousy), as is shadow-Jupiter the
overindulger (who in my play actually oversees Christmas, which falls on the
High Holiday of Jupiter:Jupiter, the Violet Smith enthroned, a few days after
the solstice. The Yule log symbolizes the rebirth of our inner Sun or Solar
Creator at that same time -- and in Creating new worlds to play with, we can
indeed rewire the old samskara-stories! Saturnalia, Saturn:Saturn, by contrast
falls in the High Holiday just before the Solstice, closing out the old year).

One of the most traditionally famous forms of the devil is embodied by
shadow-Mars, the dragon of fiery rage. Mars's partner is shadow-Neptune, the
terrified obsessive-compulsive and perennial seeker.

But we also have shadow-Bacchus the rapist and trespasser, shadow-Urania the
confused victim, shadow-Mercury as the spinner of lies and black-magic
(samskara-stories), and shadow-Isis as the Queen of Denial. Even shadow-Moon,
the elitist and bloodless scholar, and shadow-Sun, the egotistical solipsist,
are forms of imbalance or evil.

All the more of Us to love, right?

program, not the fast pranayama we do after asanas and
before meditiation.

Vaj has confused the two once before, claiming that hopping
is an artifact of fast pranayama (regardless of the fact
that it's done before meditation, long before one begins
sutra practice, let alone Yogic Flying). Spontaneous bellows
breathing, in contrast, appears to be an artifact of the
Yogic Flying sutra.

Either he was and is attempting to mislead, or he's never
practiced the TM-Sidhi program.

culminating line towards the third eye and the crown bindu, the summit.
Are you saying kundalini preceeds prana? If so, I suggest that its the
reverse. Prana is first balanced in ida and pingali, this then enables
flow of prana up shushuma (often this is mistaken for kundalini). Then,
  kundalini can awaken and rise.
No there are pranas which have to be balanced for kundalini to take the
correct route, otherwise it can (for some people) short-circuit. Others may
just happen to have the right balance of mental disposition and outlook so
that they'll awaken in a balanced way.

That makes it sound more complicated than it really is. A guru may
recommend some asanas or do shakipat on a chakra to help. And as you
say for some nothing else is needed other than the meditation technique.

It's what people who help heal these folks or are what sadhaks into inner
tantra can use. Sometimes you need a brain surgeon and sometimes a nurse will
be sufficient. I'll tell you, I wouldn't want to do this level of pranic
healing and intervention unless I was thoroughly knowledgable and handling what
can go wrong. So kudos to those who do.

I didn't need to learn the 14 meridian acupuncture system as part of my
practice, but I did. Once you know it, you can just scan your meridians, or
others, and check for imbalance. It becomes natural and easy.

Since he's still hanging out there in each moment with his

I think I see some career possibilities here. Maybe you could sizably

All good points, and he has apparently also completely misunderstood that the
beautiful thing about the TM program is it is *self-transcending* -- and that
the effortless backing-up process of Grace it initiates continues long after
any use of the mantra itself is transcended.

But then, I don't know too many bona fide TM teachers who completely grasp this
fact!

The next interview will be with Michael Fischman, the President of the

Sure. But I'm betting he's too attached to the desire to

[FairfieldLife] Is Iran About to Test a Nuclear Bomb In North Korea?

Is Iran About to Test a Nuclear Bomb In North Korea?
By Reza Kahlili

On December 24, a research report from the South Korean Foreign Ministry
Institute indicated that North Korea
http://www.foxnews.com/topics/politics/north-korea.htm#r_src=ramp
would carry out another nuclear bomb test after the beginning of the
year. -- South Korean media reported earlier this month that the North
was digging a tunnel in preparation for such a nuclear test.

At the same time, reports from inside Iran
http://www.foxnews.com/topics/world/iran.htm#r_src=ramp indicate that
a team of Iranian nuclear scientists have been sent to North Korea and
that the two governments have agreed on a joint nuclear test in North
Korea with a substantial financial reward for the Kim Jong-Il
http://www.foxnews.com/topics/politics/kim-jong-il.htm#r_src=ramp
government.

It is no secret that Iran and North Korea are collaborating in a
ballistic missile program. The North Koreans provided Iran with the
technology and know-how to build the Shahab-3 medium-range ballistic
missile, which is a copy of the Nodong-1 missile. The Shahb- 3 missile
has a range of 2,000 kilometers (1,240 miles) covering all of the U.S.
military bases in the Middle East
http://www.foxnews.com/topics/politics/middle-east.htm#r_src=ramp and
the entire country of Israel
http://www.foxnews.com/topics/politics/israel.htm#r_src=ramp .

Most alarming, recent WikiLeaks
http://www.foxnews.com/topics/politics/iraq/wikileaks.htm#r_src=ramp
releases reveal that Iran obtained a cache of advanced missiles capable
of carrying nuclear warheads (based on a Russian design) from North
Korea. Now, for the first time, Iran has the capability to target every
capital in Western Europe.

Not only are these two governments continuing to collaborate on the
missile projects, they are also conspiring on Iran's nuclear bomb
development. This relationship has not only led to sharing data on
previous nuclear tests by North Korea, but played a part in Iran's
capability to build the more advanced P2 centrifuges that produce 2.5
times more enriched uranium than the first generation P1 model.

The recent revelations about North Korea's uranium enrichment plant
also raise the possibility that North Korea is enriching uranium on
Iran's behalf. Iran has always maintained that its nuclear program is
for peaceful purposes; that it is their right to produce nuclear fuel
for their nuclear power plants.

In order to avoid a possible military reaction by the West, Iran is
working covertly with North Korea until such a time they are capable of
weaponizing their ballistic missiles with nuclear warheads.

Iran continues their nuclear bomb project on multiple fronts despite
four sets of sanctions by the U.N. They continue to enrich uranium at
the Natanz facility (which currently has enough enriched uranium
stockpiled for three nuclear bombs) while they continue to openly enrich
uranium to the 20% level. It is important to note that from this level,
it is comparatively easy to reach the 93% needed to create an atomic
bomb. Sources inside Iran reported several months ago that Iran has
successfully mastered the enrichment of uranium to a weapon-grade level.

Iran is also increasing yellowcake production at the Gchine uranium
mine. The mine currently has a design capacity of 21 tons of yellowcake
per year; about half that amount is needed to produce the 55 pounds of
93% enriched uranium for a nuclear bomb.

They have a nuclear fuel facility in Isfahan capable of producing ten
tons of nuclear fuel annually, and sufficient plutonium for two nuclear
weapons a year.

The Arak heavy water plant — built in violation of the
nonproliferation treaty — is near its completion, though the West
had assumed this would not happen until 2015. This facility will be
capable of producing significant amounts of bomb-grade plutonium. With
the assistance of the Russians in going live, once the Bushehr nuclear
power plant is fully operational, it will be able to produce more than
661 pounds of near-weapons-grade plutonium — enough to make 60
nuclear bombs within the first year or two.

The upcoming nuclear bomb test in North Korea is yet another indication
that time is running out.

Soon we will wake up to the shocking realization that Iran has nuclear
bombs and that both Iran and North Korea have nuclear warhead delivery
systems.

It is a shame that we failed to stop North Korea from developing its
nuclear capability, but it is not too late to stop Iran!

Maybe the North Korean leaders are not suicidal. Maybe they are only
looking to intimidate South Korea
http://www.foxnews.com/topics/politics/south-korea.htm#r_src=ramp ,
the U.S. and other allies in the region. Maybe they are trying to gain
stature and stronger negotiating powers. However, the Iranian leaders
have long talked about the destruction of Israel and its master --
America.

It is not only irresponsible and cowardly for our politicians to allow
such a messianic regime, which

Yes, my mileage does vary. Personally, I love and admire your mind and courage
and heart and humor and presence immensely. I don't really see that these
confrontative tactics have actually helped any miscreants see the light here,
though. That's not really the way the pain-body appears to work. The core-pain
is usually far too unconscious to assume responsibility for its own pain, and
is ever intent on defensive denial, fulminating on the villain(s) out there
who it believes cause(s) all its problems and pain.

I generally find that ultimately, our healing of the soot-particles or demons
we see out there rests in taking full responsibility for our universe and
giving easy, loving awareness to these beings as they exist in our own
attention-field, made up of our own consciousness. I find that continuing to
demonize them as horrible, not-self miscreants actually increases their
resistance, for we are denying them the light of our unconditional love,
endarkening them rather than enlightening them. What we resist, persists.

That's how and why loving our enemies actually works -- through unconditional
love and simple awareness we get to melt all of those demons back into angels,
into our children, into ourselves. As we treat the least of them, so we treat
ourselves, for they really consist of nothing but our own awareness, trapped
helpless inside that Ego of suffering, of separatist pain.

But as you say, YMMV, and FWIW I am utterly OK with that, and with you, just as
you are. My apologies for the sermon; it is only to myself! I love you!

* * * I am sorry this was confusing; I will see if I can clarify it a bit. By
self-transcending I mean that not only does the technique effectively use
mantra to transcend mantra within a given practice-period, it also continues to
provide the same backwards momentum after the identification with the
individuated Witness-self has permanently dissolved into THAT, and the
technique as a whole has been transcended.

The simple, natural, effortless nature of Being which had as if been infused
into our Understanding, continues to spread into yet more and more
effortlessness, to go on purifying and enlightening all the other
resistant-egos in our Universal body-mind.

And here we see first-hand that it was not really merely a mechanical technique
at all, but a vibrant life-line of Grace, of unconditional loving attention,
which has been handed down to us from before the beginning of time, or perhaps
more accurately, from after the end of time. As our particular attention-points
appear to move forward in time, we are actually still effortlessly moving
backwards and transcending over and over, retracing the attention-flow
bestowed upon us in Grace from our future-self, as we all continue back to our
source.

Say what we like (or dislike) about Maharishi (and I have said plenty in my
day) -- he gets the job done.

won't stop him from robbing again. It's like house training a puppy. Saying,
No! Bad dog doesn't mean I don't love my dog unconditionally, it just means
I'm correcting undesirable behavior. Otherwise, how would the miscreants of
FFLife know that it's not O.K. to pee on the floor?

I generally find that ultimately, our healing of the soot-particles or demons
we see out there rests in taking full responsibility for our universe and
giving easy, loving awareness to these beings as they exist in our own
attention-field, made up of our own consciousness. I find that continuing to
demonize them as horrible, not-self miscreants actually increases their
resistance, for we are denying them the light of our unconditional love,
endarkening them rather than enlightening them. What we resist, persists.

That's how and why loving our enemies actually works -- through unconditional
love and simple awareness we get to melt all of those demons back into
angels, into our children, into ourselves. As we treat the least of them, so
we treat ourselves, for they really consist of nothing but our own awareness,
trapped helpless inside that Ego of suffering, of separatist pain.

But as you say, YMMV, and FWIW I am utterly OK with that, and with you, just
as you are. My apologies for the sermon; it is only to myself! I love you!

* * * How do you know? Actually, I have been finding just that: that loving my
particles unconditionally *does* stop them from robbing again.

* * * Hey, go for it, if you're enjoying yourself and you believe your actions
are achieving the desired results; as you say, what I am speaking of does not
really pertain to any specific recommendations of external action or inaction,
as much as being the most effective way I have found to actually show
miscreants the light.
