Raylee Cooper replied On 4/10/2009 10:17 AM Hi, I have just upgraded to Seamonkey. I have enabled javascript, ticked every box in the edit section of the browser window. But I'm still unable to view most pages, and more often than not, get a message on the pages I open saying I need to enable javascript. So, I go back up to edit, preferences, then advanced to check the settings, it's still enabled and I still can't view the page. Do you know why this is happening? I really like Seamonkey and I'd hate to have to revert back to my old browser because this one doesn't work properly. Thanks, Raye Raye, When you installed SeaMonkey did you enable Quick Launch, it places an icon in your System Taskbar nest to the clock. If Quick Launch is enabled then you have to close SeaMonkey down completely, including Quick Launch, QL keeps some parts of SM in memory to quickly launch the SM application, and this may be preventing you form seeing your web pages with JavaScript. Of all the sites I viewed and tested, bigfilez.com (previously I missed-spelled that) is the easiest site to operate for a recipient. Yes, it would be nice to go to a link and immediately and automatically start a download, but, the file hosting sites are free (mostly) public sites that sustain themselves with ads. One way around this is to change you're user agent. The UA tells the world what browser you're using, and what operating sytem you're using. Restore Seamonkey after OS Reload.
Users, What is the proper method to restore your Seamonkey setup after a full disk reformat/OS re-install? The Universal will install for both SeaMonkey and IE, but because SM was developed after the last upgrade to Crescendo you will have to point the Crescendo installer to where you have the SM Plugin Folder. If JavaScript is disabled while loading such a page, I must reload the page after enabling JavaScript in order to get the full functionality of the page, part of which is supplied by the external script. Further, if you read the bug provided by Philip, there are other, more critical applications that this affects (Groupwise Outlook for example). I think it better to spend some time resolving the issue rather than having new users experience issues with applications that they chose to install on their systems. From what I know using TB, this isn't an issue any longer. It was when I used NS, and I don't have SM installed. Terry R. -- Anti-spam measures are included in my email address. The last time I had that issue was 1998, as I realized I have a backup file of the moz mapi file in the system32 folder. the version in the windowsXP system folder is 1.0.2536.0, but the one in the SM or TB program directory is 0.8.0.0 Not really related since the one in those folders is mozmapi32.dll. Terry R. we weren't talking about mozmapi32.dll, now were we!? :-) The version number you quoted was the windows version of mapi32.dll. And that's why I responded to you. You said, the version in the windowsXP system folder is 1.0.2536.0, but the one in the SM or TB program directory is 0.8.0.0 They are two completely different files. Terry R. you're talking about 3 different files: -- windows mapi32.dll which is version 1.0.2536.0 -- SeaMonkey's and Thunderbirds mapi32.dll which is version 0.8.0.0 -- SeaMonkey's and Thunderbird's mozmapi32.dll which is also version 0.8.0.0 You were talking about the first 2, then later added the third. -- *IMPORTANT*: Sorry folks, but I cannot provide email help Emails to me may become public Notice: This posting is protected under the Free Speech Laws, which applies everywhere in the FREE world, except for some strange reason, not to the mozilla.org newsgroup servers, where your posting may get you banned.
