You guys might want to be careful how much you complain about BMC here. The last time I did everyone in I.T. management (and myself) were flooded with voicemails from ServiceNow. Even now, I still get regular voicemails from them that I have to delete. From what I've seen their product isn't

ARS 7.6.4 SP2 Issues

2011-10-31 Thread Pierson, Shawn
Good morning folks, I've been trying to get SP2 up and running (just ARS for now) and have run into lots of issues. I am working with BMC Support, although they aren't really doing anything helpful or useful and are taking days just to respond to simple questions. In any case, I wanted to

An interesting item in the ARS patch is that we can use multiple plugin servers now. I wonder if that applies to all the OOtB plugins, and if so I suspect that it could be a performance gain to put them on different threads. I have an escalation that runs against a vendor form with the ARBDC

ARERR 9350?

2011-10-11 Thread Pierson, Shawn
Good morning, I have a user receiving ARERR 9350, which states, Network protocol/data error when performing data operation. Please contact administrator. I've never seen this message appear, and it looks like only one person is getting it. He's logging in to the Mid Tier on ARS 7.5, and the

This isn't something easy to reproduce but I think I'll try Fiddler and hope for the best. We are not on a load balanced environment, and I found out from this user that he stopped using a VM anymore and is still receiving this, although if there are browser plugins or proxy settings those

Re: Share point integration with bmc remedy?

2011-10-05 Thread Pierson, Shawn
It probably depends on what sort of integration you are looking to do. Before looking into vendors I would see if Remedy and SharePoint have the tools you need already built in. There is a lot you can do that is simple and requires no additional money to be spent. I've worked with the

Re: Spell Check in Remedy

Spellcheck is also in Chrome, but not Internet Explorer. The last time I investigated adding spell check functionality to Internet Explorer, it was an add-on to the browser that you would have to pay for. Hopefully with Windows 8 Microsoft provides it natively. Thanks, Shawn Pierson Remedy

Recently I read that Adobe was developing technology that could display flash (I think somehow rendering it server side) for Apple devices, although hopefully with Steve Jobs stepping down Apple will decide to go ahead and allow Flash. By the way, both the stock iPhone and Android web browsers

What I do is go to the Search window in Windows, look on all local hard drives, and look for *.arf,*.arv and delete everything that comes up. That is generic enough that you don't have to be concerned with where each person has set for their home directory, and easy enough that you can have

Re: Windows 7 and ARS 7.6.4.

Do you mean the Mid Tier itself or using Windows 7 to connect to a Mid Tier server? We're running 7.6.4 on Windows Server 2008, and I'm using Windows 7 as a client and I have no issues with any of those items at this time. Thanks, Shawn Pierson Remedy Developer | Southern Union From: Action

This doesn't make sense since Full Name is on the User form. Sure, it's not split up by each part of the name like it is on CTM:People, but it would be pretty easy to do searches with LIKE that would return the names that you are looking for. I've customized some of the forms for the Approval

Integrating with CTM:People vs. BMC_People

2011-08-02 Thread Pierson, Shawn
Good afternoon, As I'm upgrading from ITSM 7.0.3 to 7.6.4, one thing I'd like to do is continue to have my People data updated from Active Directory. For 7.0.3, I built an integration where some escalations run and dump the People data into a staging form that then goes into CTM:People.

I'd be very interested in knowing if you are able to fix this. I haven't tried modifying any of the ITSM 7.6.4 reports yet, but if it's not something you can export and edit in the same way you could Crystal, you may end up building custom reports for everything, which would be a huge pain.

Re: Assignment groups - sizing

2011-07-14 Thread Pierson, Shawn
There is a limit of the number of people within an assignment group based on a character field that contains a list of all usernames in the group, so it varies by the length of your user's login names rather than the number of users. We have run into that because we have a requirement that our
