No. FreeDOS tries to open fdconfig.sys and if that one is not found
it tries config.sys and if that is not found then defaults are used.

known as grub legacy. Grub legacy will be no longer developed by the gnu
grub project. Them are now working on grub2 and they have their reasons.

(2) formated the virtual harddisk with fat32 with Windows XP setup
(3) installed Windows XP
(4) copied all files (gldr and such) from the directory
grub4dos-0.4.3-2008-05-02 to C:\
(5) added in C:\boot.ini

where you can change it and not about lines.
Whatever I do with mode, it switches the lines and fonts but it never

os WinXP) without guest additions (VMware) is a bit inflexible with only
mapping harddisk while VM is shutdown. I like to have a shared folder.
Access to internet is from inside VM fully working (tested with arachne)

Having kernel.sys and command.com are the most minimal way to start
FreeDOS I know.
I've successfully managed to find a configurations of parameters where
FreeDOS is crashing before I can use the command prompt.
The reason for the freeze couldn't be detected just by describing the
