My unhappy story may be of group interest. I was using Mail this morning on my
iMac when it signalled the download of several 100 emails. Nothing appeared in
my inbox but the mac promptly froze and I haven' t yet been able to get it to
work.
I remember Gilly reporting a similar problem

The library directory is now hidden in OS X Lion, so in Finder choose Go >
Go to Folder and enter "~/Library" without quotes. There is a way to unhide
it and I'm sure someone else will let you know that whilst I'm looking for
it in the archives.

Library, though there is one in the HD file at the same level as users. There
is another tucked in shared and there's another one, when I search the disc,

Inside that folder will be each account's inbox & sent items in separate
folders, then a folder called mailboxes which contains. Your mailboxes ;)

information logically and correctly.
As guidance:
Start up Mail. Go to the Mail menu and select Preferences. Click on the blue

I use google Mail to sync to Apple Mail
Love the threaded inbox in Mail 5.
But, when I move a message to a folder (a Google label really) it
loses the threading.

I can't for the life of me work out how to create a subfolder in my inbox in
Mail.
I create a new mailbox but it won't let me put it under my inbox.
I have to open Outlook and drag the new folder into the inbox then open up mail
and sync it to get the new folder where I want it (using imap)
Rocketbox?.seems to provide a decent search in Apple Mail.

I have re-set the password on the easyspace control panel, logged that into
mail preferences and all is working well now. Thankfully.
My remaining question is - can I delete lots of old passwords from the keychain
passwords safely?

Another mystery since installing Lion. In Mail where has the facility to
Bounce a message gone? It came in handy in an attempt to stop rubbish
emails.
Any other features gone missing in Lion I should know about. Still do not
like the new iCal has a very old fashioned look about it. Thanks.

If you incorrectly type your password on purpose while setting up the account,
mail wont default to imap, it'll ask for more details, then you can choose pop.

POP will download email from a server then optionally delete that email from
the server
IMAP will sync what's on your computer with what's on the server, so if you

There might be some offline cache issues with Mail on the iMac. Quit Mail, open
Terminal and type :
cd ~/Library/Mail/Mac-jmebrady
I'm assuming your mobile me folder is named that way.

I use Mail a lot on trains, queuing the messages, and it saves drafts every 1.7
seconds as far I can see. They send when I arrive home but then sometimes I end
up with up to ten or so drafts stored and have to check it was actually sent
etc etc. Very annoying. Is this normal behaviour? any sugge

Hi. Yes, I've tried "Mailbox / take all accounts online".
In Preferences/ Accounts / Account Info I can get the drop down menu - but the
info for this account has changed and it is altering it that is proving
impossible.
It may well be offline because it isn't working - it is the fact that it

can you edit it via the Preferences/Accounts/Account Information? I see a
drop-down menu there of smtp accounts and if I select it I see 'edit...'
is it IMAP or Pop?
if it's imap the stuff should all stay on the server if you delete the accoun

I've got a problem which has appeared in Mail. I've got several different
domains and each has its own mailbox in Mail, which have worked fine to send/
receive emails.
Last week one of them stopped being able to send mail - and when I look at
preferences, the settings seem to have changed
My beloved outlook express deletes properly if one uses shift delete
I love my iMac and snow leopard but its not perfect
