further exploration looking for guaranteed repro , it seems applying my compound directly after a merge curve (from a script because it cannot be done in soft or ICE) causes the segmentation. but if I create an empty ICE tree to the merged curve, freeze, then apply my compound then it works fine.

Is not the same thing. We need something to preserve unique frozeb uvs. Maya and Max can do it. When you have assets from other packages, fbx data or old frozen files a custom freeze button doesn't help at all. I use gator to preserve uvs all the time. Not perfect, but quite useful. And if the

I like working in the current hq viewport... 16x aa and really nice per pixel shading / texture display... But only if I don't have to duplicate or delete geometry.. There is a very annoying pause everytime. Really kills the mood... And switching passes with hq enabled is a party pooper too...
