Re: [OSM-talk] piwik.openstreetmap.org - what is it?
My setup is a plain one, no frills, nothing special, just open to every site that wants to take part to this experiment of tracking accross OSM related sites to understand how visitors move between all them and finally register/contribute or not... but for this the main OSM site should also take part to the experiment. Although current tracking is not anonymous (full IP is stored), anonymized data can be queried for studies thru piwik's API. [OSM-talk] NLSI releases a lot of data free of charge
Hi. This week, the National Land Survey of Iceland released a huge amount of data publically accessible free of charge. The general public and companies have already started using the data and one company intends to release a complete 3D map of Iceland, largely based on said data. The license for the data is unfortunately incompatible with OSM's Contributor's Terms at the moment but it's a work in progress which will hopefully be solved quickly. When we are successful, which should happen eventually, the Icelandic OSM community might need some tagging and import help in the appropriate mailing lists. You can see a news coverage (in Icelandic) in the link below which has a graphic demonstration of a 3D map of Surtsey ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surtsey). The island is currently not accessible to the public due to scientific research. http://www.mbl.is/frettir/sjonvarp/79397/ With regards, Svavar Kjarrval signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature ___ talk mailing list talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk

But the Settings screen shot shows Editor vs Editor with Satellite vs Satellite only - no editing vs Mapnik only - no editing. Also, the Clear Cache screen has entries for OSM Data, Bing Aerial Tiles, and Mapnik Tiles and the text implies that where ever you've viewed is cached locally, possibly allowing offline use, albeit maybe not easy to pre-load? [OSM-talk] overpass turbo - a web GUI for Overpass-API
Hello, I'm happy to present you *overpass turbo* [1], a web based graphical user interface for Overpass API. I've always thought, that the Overpass API can be a great tool for mappers and developers (for example for its powerfulness in data filtering). However, there was no easy way to quickly run an Overpass query and inspect the results in a user friendly manner, until now: With overpass turbo you can run Overpass API queries and analyze the resulting OpenStreetMap data interactively on a map. Here are some use cases where overpass turbo can come in handy: * Searching for (rare) spelling mistakes or breaks with naming conventions, which are not yet covered by any QA tool. * Showing and inspecting spacially large features (boundaries, rivers, complete motorways, PT-networks, ...). * Always when you only need a filtered portion of OSM data. * Testing and developing more or less complicated Overpass API queries. * Creating mock-ups of clickable or static maps highlighting selected OSM features. http://overpass-turbo.eu This is the url where you can find overpass turbo [1] (alternatively, there is also an installation on overpass-api.de [2]). You need a somewhat recent web browser for using overpass turbo. Opera, Chrome and Firefox have been tested and work (IE 10 should be fine, too). [talk-au] network and route tags
Hi All, I am interested in a small area of trails. There are about 10 trails in a local reserve, all the trails are sign posted and named etc, but there is no actual marked route you just pick which trails you want to use to get to where you want to go. However the tagging used in OSM to me seems wrong. (1) network=lcn Is this correct to use? Should there be other tags associated with this such as network:name=x etc? (2) route=mtb All the trails are tagged with route=mtb. However there is no marked or recognised physical route associate with these trails. Each trails is short approximately 200m to 500m long so it seems to me the route tag is not applicable. Etiquette: If the above tags are wrong, is it ok to just delete them? These tags have been used in this trail area and 2 others. Thanks, David ___ Talk-au mailing list Talk-au@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-au
Das sollte also eigentlich funktionieren.
[Talk-it] la key:place
Bo. [Talk-it] Landuse
Ciao a tutti. -- Gianluca Boero ___ Talk-it mailing list Talk-it@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-it
Re: [Talk-it] Landuse

I also agree with Harald. The Environment Canada Forecast Region boundaries are useful but not as part of the OSM database. Re: [Talk-ca] Environment Canada Forecast Region boundaries released
It is simple to do for a user database. From JOSM, you can simply save an OSM file. It is also possible to convert to a shp file or other formats. It is then easy to define a page using services such as Mapbox or or API's such as Openlayers or LeafLet. For community database, there may be many solutions more or less complex to store, manage and read the data. I am not an expert at these, but I have once developed one simple solution that works for managing collectively a list of POI's. Data was stored in a Google Doc Spreadsheet and converted to be read by map API's. [Talk-ca] Tr : [OSM-talk] overpass turbo - a web GUI for Overpass-API
Pierre - Mail transféré - De : Martin Raifer tyr@gmail.com À : t...@openstreetmap.org Envoyé le : Vendredi 25 janvier 2013 17h10 Objet : [OSM-talk] overpass turbo - a web GUI for Overpass-API Hello, I'm happy to present you *overpass turbo* [1], a web based graphical user interface for Overpass API. More information, screenshots, examples, etc. can be found on the OSM-wiki [3] or on its github repository [4]. Have fun :) Martin / tyr_asd [1] http://overpass-turbo.eu [2] http://overpass-api.de/turbo/ [3] http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Overpass_turbo [4] https://github.com/tyrasd/overpass-ide ___ talk mailing list t...@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk ___ Talk-ca mailing list Talk-ca@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ca
