When you say it went dark, is it just the display that is affected or is it completely off line? If it is completely out, i.e. not playing and not seen from LMS or Mysqueezebox then I'd start looking at the power supply. They have a tendency to act up, but replacements are readily available on

Removing WiFi board is good advice. Also, try to measure power supply output when connected to the SB3. I've seen power supplies that had good voltage when not loaded but dropped to around 3V when connected to the SB3.

Two likely culprits: There has been quite a few failed WLAN boards which can cause different symptoms, often reboots. This can be verified by removing the board and testing the unit using wired network. Replacement boards are reportedly available on eBay. The power supplies are notorious for

As already stated, seems like you have two separate networks. I believe the cable should be connected to one of the LAN ports of the AL89300 to avoid creating a separate network. A quick experiment to try at least.

The two most common problems with SB3, by far, seems to be WiFi boards and power supplies losing steam. You can find decent aftermarket PSUs with the right connector from China for "peanuts", and if you can run wired then you can just remove the WiFi board. Either of those fixes seem to revive

As it happens, Logitech makes universal remotes, and they were kind enough to include SB support. Currently using a Logitech Harmony Companion to control TV, STB, AV Receiver, DVD and SB3. That said, I haven't tried to set up my SB from scratch using a universal remote.
