crankshaft to the clutch. The clutch basket with the large gear can
be easily replaced but I'm not sure what he intends to do about the
crank gear. I haven't seen that particular crankshaft but they are
usually part of the

pure nylon nut should be a direct replacement for that you just need
to identify the thread. It's probably an M2 or M3. Get yourself a
thread gauge (or you could just count them against a caliper) and

drop to access the crankshaft bearings and oil pump. Instead the
entire crankcase, oil sump and all is cast in two separate pieces and
held together with bolts. Cut into these two halves are spaces for

I'm a fan of the Spitfires. I put a set on my 450 at the beginning of
the year and while I don't have a lot of experience with tires I've
been happy with them. Plenty of traction wet or dry, decent wear
characteristics, and I'm comfortable dragging pegs with them if the

I used to run a little dingy for the local state park as a safety

the end of your cable into your drill while it's still connected to

I agree, keep adjusting the peddle til you have the normal free play
and if it still feels funny start checking for over-stretched springs
or bend rods. Pull the hub apart too, when the shaft got completely
released a spring inside may have popped off. The brake light switch
can be readjusted

Joey my parts bike is a '79 CM400A. Side by side with my '82 450 the
frames appear to be identical. That thing oughta mount on the front
motor mount which is definitely the same between the two models. If
not you can always modify it to fit. I'd jump on it.
Speaking of which anyone want
The SaddleSore 1000 is the shortest one they have. 1000 miles in 24
hours. All of the great lakes rides qualify for that as well. I
think I'm going to do the lower lakes 1000 sometime next year once
I've broken in my 750. First though I want to try and ride from where

I'd replace it. At 9+ years old that rubber has to be tired and the
general rule of thumb is two rear tires for every front of the same
brand. So between 15-20k miles per front depending on the tire. A
tire blow out, especially a front tire, is not something you want to
do. I had a rear go out

skins off Bike Bandit, paid $67 for the rear and $56 for the front. I
then pulled both rims with the tires off the bike and took them in the
back of the truck over to a small local bike mechanic. I can't

Non removable liner I take it? I would get yourself a nice soft scrub
brush and go to town with some dish soap and water. Same thing I do
with mine except I remove my liner and wash it outside the helmet in
the sink. Stick it out on the back porch to dry (out of direct
sunlight) or aim a hair
If you can't find one you might be able to take a sheet of hardware
store plexiglass (I'm pretty sure these aren't glass), cut it to fit,
and glue it in.

have a fuel pump, they are gravity fed. What your probably looking at
is the petcock diaphragm. It's basically an automatic on\off switch
for the fuel. They make replacement diaphragms for them,

head fins of an air cooled motor will be above the boiling point of
water in nearly all conditions. The head on my 450 has little pockets
below the plugs that tend to collect water when I wash it or it gets

I would wager one or more of the bowls are flooding. A strong smell
of raw gas is a dead give away and a leaking float seat is usually the
culprit. The onset of the problem also matches your symptoms pretty
well. You probably wouldn't notice an external leak with this design
of carb, unless

performance and are usually better. I'd opt for sintered metallic
pads which ever way you go. Superior performance to most other styles
without too much compromise in cold performance and wear. Just be

Fraid I'm going to be offering the same advice. I haven't, nor am I
familiar on how to do it on a 750 but on my 450 the seal is set into a
grove in the crankcase clam shells. The cases must be broken to
remove it and on my bike it was impossible to do with it in the
frame. More worrying is Bike
If the fuses don't solve it your new best friends are a wiring diagram
and a multimeter. Start tracing the wiring path from the battery,
though the starter switch, through the clutch and neutral switches and
up to the starter solenoid. If the solenoid is getting power on it's
firing lead but

one on my 450 was glued with some yellow stuff that refuses to come
out of the valve cover. I installed a new one using little blobs of
RTV to tack it in place. As long as you take it out carefully and it
