Re: [Zappa-List] Cleverest Zappa Song?

2008-07-03 Thread jcoonk
Hi & Howdie Doodie!
(Are you a union man, and may I call you Rudy?)
A Thread is the line of messages on any topic; you added your comment to the
subject message and I have added along. All of these posts on this topic
constitute a thread...
As for "downloading shows", that's a much tougher question. It's done easily,
but it does require software. The latest trend is torrenting - something I have
yet to try. For an "old school" newbie like yourself, I would say that joining
a vine is the quickest way to build up an FZ starter collection; you know:
crawl before you walk, walk before you jog, jog before you run, etc... Copying
an existing disk is much easier than downloading off the Net.
Welcome to the List!

Hi Group

I'm ashamed to kind of admit this, I've been a voyuer here on this
group, I'm not exactly sure how to download or know much about the internet
(I'm very, very old school)...

But i wanted to get in on this...I'd have to agree, the cleverest FZ
song ever is St. Alphonzo's Pancake Breakfast. The entire Apostrophe is a very
clever piece, extremely clever...

Been a FZ fan for many, many years, wrote him a letter when I once
worked for a music magazine. He signed an autograph for me.

We lost a national treasure when he passed on.

So I guess I'm saying hello to the group and if anyone wouldn't mind,
can someone explain what a "thread" means and is it possible for me to actually
download shows into my computer and onto a blank CD?

Thanks for all help and input...please write and say hi to me.

Looking purely for personal opinions here. What is the cleverest
Zappa song? Pick whatever definition of clever works for you. I'll go first: I
choose St. Alphonzo's Pancake Breakfast.

Re: [Zappa-List] Re: MITB - vine

2008-01-29 Thread jcoonk
That is understandable - because many others also do not follow protocol...
Sacred Rule #1: don't change the subject line (you didn't, thank you). This is
the one rule that can really muck up the works when not followed.
You might try another search (or two, or 3) and change the keywords - try VO
MITB, VO Music Is The Best, or Music Is The Best. Also, when you do find a
reference message, try searching all the messages for that particular month, in
case the SR#1 above was not followed. Sometimes that can help narrow things
down...
Good Luck! (It IS an awesome set, compiled and created by one of our esteemed
members, and now wildly bootlegged from the Orient.)

I thought Del quit the group a while ago, but that might have been a different

Regardless, vines are not supposed to "die" - the last to receive is obligated

Re: [Zappa-List] VO 12-26-75

2007-12-02 Thread jcoonk
I didn't intend to lay blame solely on your shoulders, Craig. This vine got
convoluted early, before you hooked up, and got even worse with time - it was a
group effort...
Our little system is not the most efficient or effective, but it works when the
rules are followed. At issue is tracking the vine - for active participants and
would-be, or future, participants. In order to use the 'Search' feature at the
main page to track a vine, there needs to be continuity in the process, or the
thread gets waylaid.
The most important thing is the subject line; a Vine's Subject should always
begin with "VO", followed by the title of the collection. Other info, like DVD
or CD or FLAC, can appear in the subject line - at the end - as long as the
Subject starts out properly. And that subject line needs to perpetuate
unchanged; even a little difference like 12-26-75 vs. 12/26/75 will throw off
the Vine's tractability. It's a "tomato / tomahto" thing: essentially
meaningless to we mortals, it means a lot to the machine we use to convey our
message...
So do not feel it was "your bad", Bro. In all likelihood, I could have caught
the subtle change at the time, and corrected it - as I've done on numerous
occasions, but (since I rarely participate in these things) moderating the
daily activities of a group as large as ours is rather time consuming.

I finally took some time to track this one down - to the best of my
ability... There are rules involved in vining here and if everyone followed
them, this would not happen (or, at least, tracking the vine would be much
easier). This is the best order that I found (if this order is not correct, the
vine participants have only themselves to blame):

Craig in California >> Rand in Texas >>
Joe Boden (New Zealand) >>Robert S (US)
 >> Bart (Pol) [EMAIL PROTECTED] >>

Rand, when you're ready to pass this on to Joe in New Zealand, please
respond to this message, leaving the Subject Line intact, and remove Craig's
and your name from the front.
Thank You.

If this is a recurring problem, would it be possible to send along with the

a good idea for those that are venturing out of the mp3 format.

Re: [Zappa-List] question about Zappa song

2007-06-13 Thread jcoonk
Milhouse,
In our brief acquaintance, you have never - to my knowledge - misremembered
anything re our hero...
And he's right, Michael (busted again, damn how does he do it?); in my search
for info I should know off the top of my head, I scrambled the data I was
gleaning from Roman Garcia's page. It was Yellow Snow that was performed as a
stand alone tune in the 80 tours - not Alfonzo...
Hey Mil! It's really good to see we still pique your interest enough to draw a
response. I - for one - miss your elucidations; and I hope all has been well
for you and yours!
Warmest Regards,
SOFA

PS Michael, Milhouse; Milhouse, Michael... There. We've all been sorta
introduced - oh yeah, Michael, Jim L; Jim L, Michael...
(This PC moment was sponsored by Jack La Lanne Hamburgers on 312 Whittier
Boulevard)
I may be misremembering and, therefore, wrong but I don't think "St.
Alphonso's" was performed alone in 1980. "Don't Eat the Yellow Snow"
  definitely was, though.

Re: [Zappa-List] question about Zappa song

2007-06-13 Thread jcoonk
Welcome to the List, Michael.
As for your "question", I don't think anyone really knows why FZ made the
choices he made in regards to what became a recorded artifact...
As for Live renditions of Alfonzo (can't say I've seen the one on YouTube, tho'
I may have), plenty of them exist: (the tune 'toured' in 73, 74, 78, & 79 as
part of the Yellow Snow Suite, and as a stand alone song in 1980) Stage Series
Volume 1 has it in the legitimate releases and I'm sure there's a boot of it
making the rounds somewhere...

Hello, my name is Michael Smith and I'm new here. I'm a huge Zappa
fan, my alltime favorite, and I'me very into his music and
  personality.

There is one thing I don't understand about the song "St. Alfonzo's
Pancake Breakfast". On Apostrophe it's only 1:50 minutes long.
However, the live 1978 version I found on YouTube is over 7 minutes
long and one of Zappa finest moments (in my opinion). There's also a
live version on Saarbrucken 1979 but it's expensive and the quality
  isn't the best.

What I don't understand is why Zappa didn't record this extended live
version on any of his other live albums, it's such a better song than a
lot of other live songs he recorded. It's especially frustrating
because this extended live version is probably in my top 3 favorite
Zappa songs and may be my favorite. Anyone care to comment?
  -Michael

[Zappa-List] OT - Regional Theater Competition.

2007-05-01 Thread jcoonk
Hey Kids!
I thought I'd provide a final update in regards to the amateur Theater
Competition I've been in.
Our group went to Schaumburg, Illinois this past weekend to represent the state
of Michigan in the American Association of Community Theaters Region 3
competition. We competed against the best from 4 other states: Wisconsin,
Illinois, Indiana, & Ohio.
We did not win - we did not place; we were stunned, as we had performed very
well.
But that's the way it goes, I guess...
The experience was tremendously educational and rewarding. I've never been more
proud of my association with a group of performers as I was this past weekend.
Our group did receive an award, given by the technical staff of the venue, for

[Zappa-List] Frank Zappa on Holland Doc

2007-04-19 Thread jcoonk
Saturday April 21 till Saturday April 28 2007

>From Saturday April 21 until Saturday April 28 Holland Doc shines the
>spotlight on musical genius Frank Zappa. Besides unique film material Holland
>Doc will also broadcast radio documentaries on the composer and rock-artist
>Zappa on its website: www.hollandoc.nl/zappa.

The reason behind this tribute is the documentary Frank Zappa - A pioneer of
the future of music part I & II, recently made by Dutch documentary filmmaker
Frank Scheffer.

Along with part I of A pioneer of the future of music, Holland Doc will show
the two famous documentaries Roelof Kiers made in 1971: Zappa and Frank Zappa
films 200 Motels, and the documentary The Present-day Composer refuses to die,
made by Frank Scheffer in 2000. For the real hardcore fans of Frank Zappa,
Holland Doc will also present an episode of the pop program Wonderland, that
hasn't been broadcasted since 1976. In this episode director Charles
Leeuwenkamp follows two illustrious ex-band members of Zappa's "Mothers of
Invention", Mark Volman en Howard Kaylan, alias Flo & Eddie during a
sightseeing tour in Hollywood.

On the site www.hollanddoc.nl/zappa, Holland Doc will broadcast a Zappa concert
that took place during the summer of 1970 which was aired in the classic VPRO
show Piknik. On the website we also present the Supplement Tape, made by Co de
Kloet in 1990 as a tribute to Zappa's fiftieth birthday and his four hour
'Freakoutshow', in which he interviews rock journalists and musicians who
worked with Zappa.

Check out the promo on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozgUg1zeW4A

[Zappa-List] OT - Time to Update the Periodic Table.

2007-03-10 Thread jcoonk
A major research institution has just announced the discovery of the densest
element yet known to science.

The new element has been named "Bushcronium". Bushcronium has one neutron, 12
assistant neutrons, 75 deputy neutrons, and 224 assistant deputy neutrons,
giving it an atomic mass of 311. These particles are held together by dark
forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like
particles called peons.

The symbol for Bushcronium is "W."

Bushcronium's mass actually increases over time, as morons randomly interact
with various elements in the atmosphere and become assistant deputy neutrons in
a Bushcronium molecule, forming isodopes.

This characteristic of moron-promotion leads some scientists to believe that
Bushcronium is formed whenever morons reach a certain quantity in
concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as "Critical Morass."

When catalyzed with money, Bushcronium activates Foxnewsium, an element that
radiates orders of magnitude more energy, albeit as incoherent noise, since it
has half as many peons but twice as many morons.

This is really a matter of taste - so let's not argue.
Although I liked the later band (saw them twice), I think 73-74 had more time
together as a unit and, therefore, had a better feel for group improvisations...

computer? I have MITB backed up on two DVD discs I could send out. Room for a
few bonus shows as well on the second disc like Saratoga. It also seems to have
stopped at Allen.

Welcome to the List, Robert; I am SOFA, your fat, floating, maroon moderator.
May I suggest you check out the FAQ in the Files section on the Groups page? It
will give you lots of nifty tuff & bitchin information on how to enjoy this
group (lots of info on the vines that happen here). You'll love it... It's a
way of Life!
Warm Regards,

PS I think the ZPZ vine is headed over the pond for a bit, but you can still
"get in on the hot action" - check out the FAQ!

  Subject: [Zappa-List] Introduction

  Hi Group,

Just wanted to introduce a 'newbie' to the group. What can I say? FZ has
ruled my world for many many years, was able to see him live 5 times (certainly
not enough), met Frank at the book signing for the 'Real FZ' book. I think I
have around 75 FZ cd's (all commercial releasees), about 12 or so videos/dvds,
7 or 8 books this man has always intrigued me. His brilliance and
intellectual-ism inspires me to keep 'informed'. My favorite solo is probably
on One SizeInca Roads, or possibly The Squirm off of Apocrypha and now
released on Trance fusion under a different name and different mix. Favorite
quote has to be 'jazz isn't dead" Favorite period, that's a tough one.
Most likely the period of Zoot, One Size, Hot Rats, but the Grand Wazoo and
Lumpy Gravy hit the stereo quite often.

Have to commend Dweezil for doing such an incredible job on bringing Frank's
music out to the public again. I got the chance to see 4 of the shows and that
wasn't enough. I'm looking forward to seeing more and to see what he comes up
with next. I have to say, he is keeping the music, the atmosphere, the talent
all up to Frank's standard.doing the music justice with the band he put
together and with the fun they are having on stage. The last show at the
Morongo just floored me. What a way to end the tour this past year!!

And lastly, being new to the group, I see there is a vine on the ZPZ
shows. any chance of getting in this late? or the ability to do a trade
with anyone? I'd like to relive some of these musical moments again.

  Thanks for listening!!!
  Robert

So many Zappa fans, so many differing opinions. Like mine. Unlike
Milhouse I rarely pull out Volume 1 or 6. Some brilliant stuff there, granted.
(How about that Mike Brecker solo on Black Napkins on Volume 6?) But a whole
lot of Zappa The Entertainer which is not my favorite aspect of the work.

Volume 4 is actually my favorite all round listening experience of the set
with a great cameo by Archie Shepp, a blistering, definitive "Outside Now",
"Tiny Sick Tears" and a downright affectionate (and spirited) doo wop medley.
And I prefer this "Torture Never Stops" over the finished product. (Although
the finished product did afford us some great solos through the years.)

Volume 2's "Dupree's Paradise" does go on for a bit but overall it's
essential listening.

Took me a while to appreciate Volume 5 (after getting over my resentment that
it was probably the final death knell of the probably never to be released
"History And Collected Improvisations Of The Mothers Of Invention"). And I was
still a fan of the ambient sonics of the older material than the slick
syntethic sounds of the 80's bands when it came out (I still have trouble
trusting things that sound like they shine). But once I got over that hump that
set became a fave as well.

Volume 3 is real hit or miss for me. I'm decidedly not a fan of the "King
Kong" presented here, conceptually clever though it may be. Still I whip this
set out quicker than Volumes 1 or 6.

Don't get me wrong here. For the dedicated Zappa fan/maven the whole 12 disc
set is essential. But we all go to the Zappa well for different thirsts.
Volumes 4, 2 & 5 quench mine more than the others.

What do others think of the Stage series ?Volume 1 is excellent, and is
an album that I would term "essential" for Zappa fans and people just getting
into Zappa. YMMV.

Volume 2 is Ok. I don't want to use the term "overrated", but it's very
tempting. The first disc is really good. The second one drags down with a
lesser performance of "Dupree's Paradise". The sprint thru "Uncle Meat / Dog
Breath" could be a lot more enjoyable. I wonder why more people don't complain
about the mix on this album. The overall sound is pretty 1980s for it being a
1974 recording. I'm not just talking about the bass drum, either. FZ's guitar
in particular was reprocessed in such a way that it doesn't even sound like his
tone circa 1974. I find it kind of annoying. That and the regrettable overuse
of digital reverb.

Volume 3 is a hell of a lot of fun. I know a lot of people don't love the
1984 band. And almost an entire album's worth of stuff in this volume might be
a little much. But it's fun. The 1973 "Dickie's" is great, and the extended,
multi-edited "King Kong" is awesome.

Volume 4 is too inconsistent. This could have been an amazing volume of the
series, but too many selections sabotage it. The 1982 stuff is great, but
there's a lot of other stuff on it that leaves me unsatisfied. Think of what
else could have been used from the Bongo Fury tour instead of the long and
boring "original" Torture Never Stops, for instance.

Volume 5. Hm. I don't listen to the first disc very often. It's great when
I want an early Mothers fix, but I don't come back to it very often. The 1982
band.. what can I say. 2nd disc is great, but there certainly could have been
better song choices than another version of "Dancing Fool". That said, it's one
of my favorite individual discs of the series.

Volume 6 is actually probably my 2nd favorite overall of the series, after
Volume 1. I'm not crazy about a couple of the choices on the first disc, but
the second disc is excellent. It's really a shame the series ended here, as
there was obviously so much more of this kind of live stuff that FZ could have
put together, but.. he probably spent an awful lot of time on these 6 volumes
anyway and needed to move on to other projects at some point.

okay, I suppose; kind of a shame that the one true 'American' style of whiskey
is globally recognized at the 'middlin' level like that...
But then I think of Budweiser and it all makes a sort of twisted sense...

Bird Of Peace is an oddity. "Unreleased session with Neil Young, The

Re: [Zappa-List] the vine structures in this group are a joke

2006-12-02 Thread jcoonk
Ridiculous: an adjective meaning worthy of, or deserving, ridicule.

IMO, the only thing worthy of ridicule when it comes to how we structure vines
here is the lack of initiative amongst those who wish to be a part of said
vines to educate themselves on how to do it properly...

And several of us have gone out of our way to make this information available
to every member - repeatedly; I'm talking blue in the face repeatedly.

If there is another method that allows for the "features" we have installed in
our vines (i.e. the never ending chain; the geographical considerations, the
searchability of archived chains, etc.), yet makes it easier to accomplish (in
the face of rampant ignorance/apathy), I would love to hear about it.

Our system may not be the best; I don't know. I do know that it was developed
after a lot of complaints arose from the willy nilly manner of the previous
"system" (which was, in effect, the "dealer calls the game"), and only after a
good deal of discussion, and comparison with how other like-minded groups did
it.

I can assure you that the developers of our system did not put their time and
energy into "a way to make the sharing of FZ's music confusing, difficult, and
next to impossible". That would have been ridiculous...

Re: [Zappa-List] adding myself to 3 dvd vine--thanks

2006-11-18 Thread jcoonk
Andy-Starless,
I will try not to sound like I'm busting your chops, but...
Have you read the FAQ on how vines work here? The reason I ask is because of
the above subject line - and then the message.
If you add yourself to a vine, fine; but the subject line of a Vine, should
NEVER CHANGE. Ever. Period... It's the subject line [VO: Uncle Meat, Video From
Hell & 200 Motels True Story (3 DVD) NTSC] that makes the vine searchable for
new members/viners.
When you change the subject line, you screw up the whole process: your name
doesn't get added to any searchable, official list, people respond to the
message thinking that they're joining a vine when they aren't, any 'announce
response' feature for the original poster or other recipients is negated. The
subject line is sacred - unless your response creates an entirely new post. But
changing the subject lie of a Vine Offer is a major No-No.
Bro, I want you to enjoy all the FZ music there is to share; but, Frankly,
you're throwing a major spanner into the works. I should have spoken up sooner,
as I noticed this a while ago, but I cannot keep up with all of the vine
activity at this group. Everyone has to be responsible for reading the FAQ,
understanding how vines work here, and staying within the prescribed parameters.
A think a fitting penance for your transgression is to search out this vine [by
the subject line, and by group activity in the past month], and come up with a
corrected / updated order. In doing so you will learn: a) how to add your name
to a vine properly, and b) just how convoluted a vine can become when someone
responds to a message and changes the subject line.
Or, you can exercise your right as a human, and say "fuck that, SOFA". The
choice is yours...
The next post I see that is a response, but has a completely new subject line,
will be dealt with much differently.
Warm Regards,
SOFA

Is there some software that works to remove gaps from discs that were

suspect someone burned as Track-At-Once, and they now have
annoying pauses between tracks.  I'm hoping there is a way to fix this,
other then recopying the discs from the original CD source.
Anybody?

Jim L, you seem to know a lot about this - What's the

Yes, that's what I figured out - finally...
Conehead is an old friend from Belgium who often helps keep the vines
straight; it was his post that I misread. As I was in on this one, I chimed in
to clarify and then I muddied the waters.
Lesson learned.

Well, that's a closer step...
But this message doesn't contain the vine list, so your spot on addition

Ya need to search out the most current list! (Info available in the

This month we present a rare gem from deep within the Magic Fingers' FZ
concert collection.  Back in August 1981, during early rehearsals for
the 1981 tour, Frank put the band through a number of songs that in the
end never actually featured during that tour.  You thought Any Kind
of Pain was a song from 1988?  Check out these proto-versions, one
with different lyrics from the version we would become familiar
with.  How about We Are Not Alone with vocals?  Or Portuguese
Lunar landing, originally premiered on the 1975 tour but rarely played
even then.  A 1981 version of Kaiser Rolls?  Even We're Turning
Again with extra Hendrix verses.  It's all here, plus some 1981
standards.  Put your feet up, sit back and enjoy the 1981 band
  earning a crust.> > 1.. Any Kind Of Pain

Re: [Zappa-List] Re: FZ 3/2/77 VO...US leg on the move

2006-10-20 Thread jcoonk

That's a good question, Steve.
Traditionally, we've only hoppinated between East & West Hemispheres -
not North and South...
And that is probably because a disproportionate number of us are in the
North.
I'd say, now that this one has sorta 'made the rounds', we should let it go
as is; Luis might well have been "hoppinated" back once or twice already with
the initial list. He was an early respondent, if I recall.

Re: [Zappa-List] Re: Missing Vines

2006-10-01 Thread jcoonk

I mailed it off to the next in line (John in Kansas?), and posted a message
to that effect with my name properly removed. If it has truly gone bye-bye, I'm
happy to send off copies of my copy; I've confirmed it has no flaws.
Let's see if we can track it.

The reason I have not passed the KCET/Token DVD on is I am having a
problem copying it. I'm copying it using Nero 7 Burning ROM. When
it's copying the image, it gives me several notes of "Unrecoverable read
error at LBA (and a bunch of numbers)". I even made the drive speed the
slowest it could go to avoid errors.Does anyone know what this is
and if it will effect the copy I will make from the
  image?

Okay...
I did your leg work for you Dawayne. The next in line is Richard Derse ([EMAIL PROTECTED]).
Please email him for his address...
Ya know, this is not that difficult; I can't fathom why someone else has to
do this for you.
Anyone who plays as well as you, should be able to figure something like
this out; it's not rocket science.
And I don't mean to bust your chops, Bro. You have my undying respect and
admiration...
I believe Richard is the last on the Vine (from the archives I've
checked). Look for him to re-offer.

Frank Zappa: Past Flops And Future ShocksRichard Williams,
Melody Maker, 25 August 1973HIS ARMS AROUND a red-haired girl whose
ample chest was covered with a MightyThor t-shirt, debonair Frank
Zappa (32) sank deeper into the couch, flexed hisbare bronzed torso,
refused a Gitane ? "Too strong for me" ? and concentratedhis mind on
the latest edition of the Mothers of Invention."This is the first
of my bands," he said, "which possesses the technicalfacility to play
the harder stuff from memory."The band, an octet, is currently on tour
in Europe, and makes its only Britishconcert appearance at the Empire
Pool, Wembley, on September 14. The new lineup, which has already
completed two tours of America and one in Australia, comprisesZappa on
guitar and vocals, Jean-Luc Ponty (violin), Ian Underwood
  (clarinet,bass-clarinet, flute, synthesiser), Bruce Fowler
(trombone), George Duke(keyboards), Tom Fowler (bass-guitar),
Ralph Humphrey (drums), and RuthUnderwood ? Ian's wife ? on marimba,
vibes, typani, and assorted "smallpercussion."It is not, said
Frank, in any way a successor to or continuation from the20-piece
Grand Wazoo/Hot Rats orchestra which appeared at the Oval
cricketground last year."It doesn't sound like any band of any
sort that you've heard any place ? theinstrumentation alone gives it a
completely different tone quality. As a resultof the widely differing
timbres of the instruments, you get a lot of contrast."Much of
their material, too, is unfamiliar. 'St Alphonzo's Pancake
Breakfast','Don't Eat The Yellow Snow', two blues called 'Penguin In
Bondage' and 'SloughMy Throng', and lastly something called, 'Don't
You Ever Wash That Thing?' whichFrank describes as "an instrumental
with choreography."They'll also be playing some old
favourites, specifically 'The Eric DolphyMemorial Barbecue', 'Green
Genes', 'King Kong', 'Chunga's Revenge', and ? forthe first time in
five years and by popular demand ? 'Brown Shoes Don't
MakeIt'.To coincide with the tour, there is (inevitably) A New
Album ? by the samepersonnel plus trumpeter Sal Marquez. It's called
Over-Nite Sensation, andcontains none of the compositions mentioned
above. Instead, it sounds likeanother sneaky attempt by the Mothers of
Invention to get their cruddy music onthe radio. There didn't
seem much more to say about this new band until we'd all got achance
to hear it, so Frank discussed the Grand Wazoo tour: "All the
concertswere great ? except the one in London."It's tough to take
a 20-piece electric band to a frozen cricket ground wherethe audience
is trying to tear down the goal-posts (?) and burn them to
keepthemselves warm. But we broke all records at the Felt Forum in New
York."The Grand Wazoo seemed, I suggested, like a pinnacle of his
career, the objecthe's always been aiming at right from the days of
Freak Out."It would have been that kind of a climax, if the
band had been able to memorisethe arrangements, and if the technical
equipment had been of the right quality. The only thing that's
important is whether you have the opportunity and themoney to present
your crazed ideas properly."200 Motels wasn't done properly because
there wasn't enough time or money. TheWazoo tour, for instance, did
five concerts and grossed 90,000 dollars ? and Ilost 2,000 dollars of
my money on it. There was no way that I was going to
makeany."I gauge the success of something by whether I can
appreciate the outcome on apersonal spectator level. If all the parts
aren't audible, it isn't right ? andthat goes back to the technology
and the money to provide it."On 200 Motels, the orchestra beat the
shit out of the music ? they just didn'tplay it properly. I couldn't
even recognise it when they'd finished. Most of theactors were
non-professionals, and the whole thing was shot in 56 hours. We
allneeded more time, and if I'd had it, I've have gotten better
performances out ofeverybody, because they were the right people for
those roles."In spite of that, I think it was a good film, and
I believe that over a periodof years you're going to find out how many
strange predictions in the scriptactually come true."Such as
what?"Well, pay particular attention to the dialogue between Mark,
Howard, andAynsley. No matter how twisted you think that plot is, it's
based on things thathad happened, or on things that were based on
suppositions extrapolated frommathematical predictions of people's
personalities."Returning to technology, Zappa explained that
they've brought the PA systemwhich used to belong to Chicago. It's

Re: [Zappa-List] FZ 3/2/77 Vine offer US leg

2006-08-31 Thread jcoonk

Hmmm, good question...
There hasn't been quite the excitement on the Euro side as on the States
side.
I'd say this one is worthy of a split, and - as John Keating was the first
to respond - John should be the first US recipient. John, you know the
drill...
The US leg should appear thus then: john k in california
(US)<
And the Euro leg thusly: ashley harrold (UK)<
When Ashley mails this off to Arto, maybe he could change the subject
header of the original post (with his response that the disk has been mailed, of
course) to Euro leg, and adjust the vine list accordingly? It would be greatly
appreciated!
