Also, to add a bit more detail to the reset - receiver as w3w describes, controller is hard power off (press and hold), then hold down '+', then press power, release both when screen come up. I switched to radio paradise to play. Still OK. I switched to planet pootwaddle to play, and it played, but it adopted the artwork and song info from Mother Earth (which was never played) Note in this case, after one song played, it self corrected, but it doesn't always correct, just remains "stuck" Again, it's not anything I am requesting be "fixed" if it is an unintended use. Jim, I am not trying to ruffle any feathers, and I am not trying to request any more work of anyone. I simply was confirming that I had seen and reported what the OP had seen. Back when I tried it, I saw an unintended use for it, had a "wow cool!" moment until I found the issues. Like I said before, when I saw it wasn't something that was "just broke and could be fixed" I just dropped it. I sincerely thought I was reporting an issue that maybe had been created with a rev to LMS, but realized that was not the case. I have a use for something similar. I have a group of starting I select between in the morning, and a group that I listen to in the afternoon, especially late afternoon when I am fading a bit. Sometimes a station is playing something I don't care for, so I switch it. I really like the presets of, say a boom or a radio for switching station. But that does not exists in LMS, sat on the material apk on my phone. Since I have my favorites in a menu structure, I have several taps back and forward to change the station. My coding skills have not been used since K 'C' (without the ++), but I have thought about trying to develop a plugin that would allow either presets, or a favorite that can be a redirection (pointer) to another favorite. Yes, you can duplicate, but when something changes with the station (url) you need to change all locations. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS does not show artwork from radio stream when using playlists
Hi Jim (d6jg) - I disagree on the bizarre comment, I actually thought it would be great if it worked (back when I tried it). In a way, it could be thought of as a list of presets. Let's say you have 50 stations of all genres, in a folder structure. You want to create a playlist of your 5 favorite "active" or "mellow" stations (which might be on different branches of the folder structure), create those playlists, load them, and choose between the stations. But it doesn't work. I reported this back here: https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?116190-I-broke-LMS-How-did-I-do-it-Can-I-fix-without-reinstalling and here https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?116205-Multiple-Radio-Stations-In-The-Queue-Observations-and-Unexpected-Behaviour=1051646#post1051646 I am often asked here to provide as much detail as possibly, and I tend to be a bit verbose (engineer), but in this thread I took a bit of flack for it, so I stopped pursuit of a solution. what I remember is that you could load stations into the queue (and save to playlist if you like), and you could select a member of the list, it would play, but eventually the artwork and meta data (from the previous station) would persist when selecting a new station. Sp, play A, works fine, switch to B, plays fine, but with A's artwork/meta. There was other unexpected behavior including LMS locking up. The other comment regarding creating a folder in favorites - this woud work, but in my use case you would have to duplicate the favorites, and to do this, you have to manually create them. If LMS had a way of creating a redirection (pointer) as a favorite item, this would help, but it doesnt (to the best of my knowledge) Jim Redrum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=117286 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Tony, Jim is "the fixer" :) Happy you have it figured out. Note that if you check the recursive box of the parent (folder) , it should change the attributes for all of the children (subfolder and files). You mentioned that you changed individual files, should not be necessary. In fact, maybe you could just choose your main "music" folder and change all files recursively with one action? Not sure, try it. As for why, I have been wondering if there was a recent update to the QNAP OS that might have added a bit of extra security and this is a byproduct. I took a quick search and there is some related chatter on the web, but of course, not being a NAS guy, I didn't know what I was reading. I'll have to defer to others to help you with uninstall on your NAS, I have zero knowledge/experience. If it were me, I would hate to give up as it is bound to be something little, right? But, if you do decide you want to stop beating your head against the wall, I would suggest getting a raspberry pi (if you can find one, or second hand) and run picoreplayer (pcp) as a LMS server only (which is what I do). Then you can point the pcp to the NAS (similar to what your PC is doing). Run the pcp 24/7 (like your NAS) it's low power consumption, and fits your desire to not have the PC on to listen. Most would suggest that you get a pi4, but I have both a 4 and the 3b+ and the 3b+ runs fine. <$100 USD (on ebay, less if you can find one through an auth reseller) and your problem is solved. Plus, if you want, you can use the pi as another squeezelite player. The one other option that I know nothing about, is running LMS in a docker. I am wondering if this would inadvertently solve your problem. Finally, I had suggested a while back - can you insert a USB stick of music in your NAS and see if NAS LMS finds it? If it does, it's something specific to how your NAS sees your drive vs the stick (permissions, etc) Jim Redrum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=117009 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Thanks to Michael and everything for continued development of LMS :) This question is just a curiosity, no action needed. I am wondering if something changed with player authentication and mysb.com? I ask because I had to do a controller/receiver factory reset on a couple receivers I have after extended idle time. During the process, after using the thumbwheel for my wifi password, the process asked for my mysb.com email address and password, which I don't ever remember being the case in the past. Usually, I would get the registration - register/continue screen. No problem, but using the thumbwheel isn't as easy as typing :) again, just curious. Tony; I am wondering if you have thought of uninstalling LMS from your NAS, and reinstalling? It shouldn't be that hard, and the biggest time consumer will be the initial scan. I think the key will be to get a complete uninstall, maybe use something like revo uninstaller. I am thinking that you installed LMS on your NAS initially, and everything worked (as far as you know). Hi Tony; Obviously, you don't want to have to run LMS on windows. I was only suggesting to try this to perhaps narrow down the issue. Maybe it has. But, as I mentioned, I am not familiar with how LMS runs on a QNAP NAS, so I would just be guessing at this point. Many others on this thread are very knowledgeable, so perhaps this would give them an "ah-ha" moment. I like to try different combinations (swap, etc) to isolate the culprit. I have fixed allot of things I know nothing about that way :). It seems to me that the NAS is allowing an outside service (LMS on a PC) to access files on it (which is it's function), but stumbling when an internal application (LMS) tries to do the same. You also said it worked fine for a while. I'm not a believer in coincidences. Try to think back as to what has changed since you believe it was working on the NAS (NAS update, LNMS update, hardware change, new network equipment, etc) and perhaps change back (if possible) one at a time. I have never owned a NAS and know nothing about them, but, as a test, if they have a USB port, put the music on a USB stick, and see if you can browse to it? That would least isolate it to the troublesome drive (and perhaps attributes?) or the whole NAS itself. As @slarti pointed out, if you can't browse to it, LMS won't find it to scan it. This issue (scan cannot find music) has come up a lot, for example with picopreplayer and attached older USB drives (dug out of the closet :)). Sometimes it's the power to the drive, etc. But most times it's reported that "it works when attached to the PC". You reallly can't come to a conclusion based on that, it's not apples to apples. "even a blind squirrel can find a nut from time to time" meaning, I had no idea how to solve your problem, but took a shot in the dark at something to try and it might have helped. By using browse, you should be able to go right to the subfolder you want to set as the location of your music or playlists. I was wondering if maybe your paths "looked right" but weren't. So, my thought was, by using browse you are sure to set the right paths. In the case of Ronnie pointing you to Mr C, the inability to go to the subfolder indicated where your problem is. The great thing about LMS is it is so powerful and flexible. But that comes with a price, there is allot going on and a lot to learn and understand. Here's a picture of my setup, Samba section of pcP on the left, windows explorer on the right. You enter in the server name, and share name, then use it to access it in windows. Be very careful - CASE SENSITIVE. You will need to use the UN (tc) and set a pw. 37750 Here is how I use freefilesync - On the left is my master library on my PC, and on the right is the files on the HDD attached to the pCP. You just do a compare, then Mirror (there are other options besides mirror). 37751 Jim +---+ |Filename: ffs.png | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=37751| +---+ Redrum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116270 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

The "SD" is the micro SD card (uSD) in the pi that stores the image for pCP which is loaded into RAM (pi memory) to run pCP. When you setup pCP, the LMS "data" (cache and prefs) is stored on the uSD. During setp (the page in your first post) you have the option to just keep it there, or move it to a drive that you might mount. In my case I used to move it, but it caused my unique issue. There has been discussions regarding where is the "best" place to store the LMS data, and one of the newer suggestions (from @Paul-) is to create a third partiton on the SD. That is an option when you setup your pCP. This is what I do. Many thoughts on this but the SD technology is subject to corruption if power is lost during a data write. pCP loads into RAM so it is not likely to corrupt, but LMS needs to access the LMS data. Regarding mounting and umounting, I was referring to the pCP UI picture in your first post. Under "pick from detected usb drives to mount" I was saying to try unchecking the seagate and hit apply, then checking and hit apply. Also, since your issue occured trying to backup your music, consider using samba ("set samba share" section). This creates a "mount point(s)" where in windows you can create a "network location" by using the server name and share name (in pcP) to create basically folder location in windows that looks right at the HDD on your pi. I also use freefilesync to sync between my master library (on PC) and mirrored libabry on pCP. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Mounted disk "missing"
Is that Seagate drive shown in your first post the one you are looking for? If so, try unmounting it, then mounting it again. Even if it "looks" like it's mounted. Also, where are you keeping the LMS data, on this drive, or your SD? A while back I was storing my LMS data on an attached USB HDD, and would have power failures where the drive mount got "lost". It happened with every power failure/restore. Above is how I recovered. Since that time, I keep my LMS data on a 3rd partition on the SD. Not sure exactly what problem that solved for me, but I can only imagine it had something to do with pCP looking for something from the LMS data, and not seeing it on the HDD (spin up?), where its now available on the SD. I think the shortage is everywhere. But, you don't necessarily need the latest and greatest. I run one system on a 4, the other on a 3b+ and I only really notice any difference during library scan and for me it's insignificant. Others can chime in, but I think you can actually run it on just about any model (correction requested), so you could get a "less desirable" on the 2nd hand market and switch over to something better later. I think you might be overestimating what's involved to setup PiCorePlayer on an rpi running LMS, with your NAS mounted. pCP is GUI based and if all goes well, if setting up just a LMS server, you should be up quite quickly. For those experienced in building them, < 1 hour. It seems that mounting the drives can get tricky for some. I use a USB HDD no problem. Check out the "getting started" page: https://docs.picoreplayer.org/getting-started/ there are also a few videos on youtube you can take a peek at to see what's involved. I'm Not sure I understand this response. Are you referring specifically to playlists? Because I described in excruciating detail how to cause disruption by adding to the queue in this thread, in the attached document. If you are referring specifically to playlists, then, sure. I can document steps to disrupt (and be concise, I promise :)). My original journey down this rabbit hole started with adding multiple streams to the queue and creating a playlist. With the contents moved to the queue, there was allot of unexpected behavior when selecting position 1, then 3, then 2, etc. That ended up with my "I broke LMS" thread. But as you have suggested, and I, and I am sure others would agree, is it worth even thinking about for the 0.01% that might want to have this work predictably? I think time has convinced me that it isn't. Agree, I need to reiterate that these are observations, not meant to create work, but rather to point out a use case that resulted in unexpected behavior, maybe something a dev consider a bug. Taking it further thought, through using the queue with radio streams (playing around), I managed to somehow alter LMS (other thread) - unrecoverable, I will need to reinstall. The answer could be just to prevent more than one stream item in the queue, or leave it as is. I just thought it was pretty cool to be able to create global "presets" as presets are player dependent, but that's just me. All queue's cleared, restart LMS, and in the problem player queue appeared two radio paradise genres Main and Rock. They hadn't been in there. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] I broke LMS, How did I do it?, Can I fix without reinstalling?
Just thought I would post an update, if even just to document for my purposes. Please feel free to see this post is from me, roll your eyes and move on. Even I am skeptical of what I am experiencing  Up to this point: something happened while switching between multiple radio stations in the queue and now, cannot load more than one radio station into the queue, but everything else works fine. This morning I discovered: 1) It is player dependent (but not type of player), I have multiple players on this system and some still work normally! (can add multiple stations) ** can add - 2 radios, one receiver ** can't add - 1 radio, two touch, one receiver 2) Nothing is logged when I try to add a station and it fails. 3) On any of the "can't add" players, If I put more than one station in the queue (e.g. one playing station, and a couple of those "null" objects - see my pic first post), then I restart LMS, viola! All of the stations are in the queue. But the victory is only fleeting. If I clear the queue and try to reload, it goes back to behaving poorly. The fix doesn't stick. 4) I tried RobbH's suggestion of a couple songs in the queue, play to completion, restart, didn't help. 5) I saw notes in the logs for radios needing the patch, did that. I saw entries for the bookmarks plugin, don't really use it, disabled it. All for now, I'll move on to building a test system to see if I can recreate what got me here and see what logs if I do. Again, I am not eorried about my system, I can rebuild, Im more interested in finding if there is a use case that caused this. I would imagine not alot of people add multiple radio streams to the queue, but I think it's wonderfully cool. :) Jim Redrum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116190 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

I'll also stop using "broke", let's call it "altered" (in case I offended anyone) Can you reproduce this with _any_ radio stream, or is this specific to RP streams? Yes, Once altered, I cannot add more than one of any radio stream to the queue. And by wiping the queue your LMS would be working again, right? Nope, permanently altered, which is what I restarted/reinstalled plugin, etc. I see no recovery other than reinstalling LMS...which is why I asked. I don't see where you "broke LMS". You hit some corner case which causes unexpected behaviour in an unexpected use case. But LMS would still mostly work perfectly fine, right? I love LMS :) But once "altered" LMS works fine, except this one (seldom used) use case (add multiple streams to the queue). This is why I am not asking for anyone to spend time on it. But, I did create an unrecoverable situation as a user, and I thought that might be worth chasing down. So I'll ask again... what does not work (besides queuing up RP stations)? Why don't you clear the playlist, which you said did work? queuing up more than one of ANY stations. My altered LMS will allow the queue to work fine with music files, but will only add one radio stream. Trying to add more adds the empty objects (see first post). To be 100% clear, I just discovered having multiple radio stations in the queue as a pseudo preset list. But @RobbH and I saw some abnormal operations with multiple radio streams in the queue (now playing timing/song info got out of wack). It was discussed on material and Radio Now Playing threads. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] I broke LMS, How did I do it?, Can I fix without reinstalling?
LMS 8.2 on a pCP 7 Nothing like doing some testing track down an issue, only to break something else :) Member @RobbH and I both noticed some album art/information and timing issues when adding multiple internet radio streams to the queue, then selecting them to play, as a pseudo set of presents. So I started methodically testing to try to create a clear way to replicate, and perhaps some clues along the way...Then I broke it. :( Here's what I did. I added each of the four genre radio paradise FLAC (non interactive) to the queue. They loaded fine. When I started selecting each to play, I noticed that it would "freeze" now playing info (song/art does not change). That was the original issue I was tracing. But then new problem came after I did allot of play this try that (to chase the artwork freeze), then I cleared the queue, and tried to re-add the four stations to try again. I couldn't (see below). Other internet radio streams do not work as well. LMS UI doesn't let you, Material creates a null graphic that the menu doesn't work, so you can't delete. Squeeze control is also shown. Note that adding my music files works fine. So, stop/start LMS, reboot pCP, uninstall/Reinstall RP plugin - nothing works. Perhaps there is a magic file in cache that I can delete? When you say that within LMS the device cannot me mounted or scanned, do you mean in setting->basic settings, you cannot browse to where your music is, or scan it? Mine: 37574 blue is my mount path, yellow is the folder path from the mount point. If the answer is yes, @ktp is right, it is not mounted, even though in pCP it might appear that it is. Like he said, make sure the power being supplied by the pi is enough for the drive. I think most pi's can supply 1.2A (total) to all of the USB ports, I would not exceed 80% of this. Also, hopefully your pi power supply is an official one. Btw, I run a 2TB Western Digital Hard Drive on my pCP. Never thought I could > just chill out but it's quite easy when you give it a go. wait until you get to the point where you are pretty sure you know what day of the week it is (most of the time) but have no idea of the date. :) I'm there... Material things to know/I have discovered: 1) If you have android devices, the apk is the way to go. 2) Related, even if you are an apple family, the Amazon Fire HD tablets are super cheap, especially if you buy them via their "deal" business "woot!", or you buy the older generation. I prefer the HD8, and you can get them $25-$50. They are cheap because they are an advertising machine with the built in ad lockscreen and everything goes through amazon. But the XDA developers site has developed a "fire toolbox" to remove all of this (read the disclaimer in the process), add the google playstore (for adding your apps), and more. It restores it to "looks like" stock android. And it's real nice hardware, great display, and fast enough for general use. Load the apk from F-Droid. I bought a few extra and have them laying around the house as "controllers" but they are a full tablet in functionality (browse apps, email, etc). I am thinking about making a pi player and using a tablet as the UI. I deployed a couple sb system to friends (after they saw mine), and I have been waiting for deals, but and configure them a tablet, and say "here, you owe me $40" :) 3) Podcasts - come into LMS as most recent episode on top, but people want to listen bottom (first) to top (last). So, you add, say a season to the queue in material, drag and drop to reorder, then you can save the queue (say "pc season 1") and it appears in your playlist for revisiting. Load it, play from the top, episodes play in order. 4) I recently started playing with using material as a preset handler for internet radio stations. I have all of my stations in favorites, under folders and subfolders, and when I want to switch, I have to navigate the folders. What I am playing with is adding my favorite stations (from different folders) to the material queue, then saving the queue which creates a playlist. I can call up the playlist and select, listen, don't like this song, select another. So I might have I'll edit if more pop into my head. Thanks for the clarification. I don't have an answer for you, maybe Ronnie does, he's a wizard :) But, as a test, since the regular flac streams are affected, why not create favorites to play the streams directly (from the link I gave you). This will at least tell you if it's related to the plugin, or RP's interface to the plugin (if that is different) I do realize how frustrating "occasionally for no reason" issues can be...:) Jim PS - as a bonus, since you like RP, check out "Jukebox Radio 2" out of Toronto, Ont. You can stream it directly, but I use Paul Webster's "Radio Now Playing" plugin that adds the song info and album art to the FLAC streams. I am the guy that had issues with power failures. My symptoms were this: Flac Interactive would not play Flac would play, but with no artwork, song info, just a RP logo and banner 320kbps would play fine On my touch, the clock screen saver would be black. This turned out to be the smoking gun, come home, no clock, "we had a power failure!" btw, the latest RP plugin is 3.1.1. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Backup of server settings
I can't give you the definitive answer, but can tell you what I know. Everything is in the slimserver->cache and ->prefs folder where your LMS data is stored 37548 For example, in the prefs, favorites.opml contains the favorites, and this file is portable (i.e. I copy it to other machines, no problem) There are users here that say they just backup both folders, but Michael has warned against backing up and trying to restore cache. I back both of them up, but have not restored. Favorites is about the only thing that I move around because I have a couple systems and generally give my favorites to friends and family (I use favorites for radio stations only, and apparently they depend on me to discover new stations for them :)) I know that any podcasts are in a file in there, and both favorites and podcasts are text files. I do remember losing my podcasts and just looking at the file to see what I wanted to back out and get again. Others might chime in (like GaryM), but this has been discussed in other threads if you want to do a bit of searching. So, if you are connected to LMS and you go setting-advanced-networking-connect to mysb.com, you should see them connected in mysb.com. There are so many members here that are better at answering your network/LMS questions than I. @bpa is one of them. Lets hope a few chime in. You really shouldn't need to use remote library, that's for...remote libraries. There are two connection points, your network, then LMS, lose your network and lose LMS. Do your players connect to your network but not LMS? I had problems with receivers on wifi that would not connect or drop. Ethernet solved that (for the receivers). You could just try an ethernet cable on the same switch network as your nas, just to see if it behaves. Like @bpa said, the players should discover LMS on their own. If you do try ethernet, with the radio (and touch?) you may need to go into settings to switch. Not sure if the power/+ will reset that. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] No players connecting to LMS
I read your post earlier and since I didn't have a definitive answer, I thought I would just let one of the heavy hitters (the ones who know) chime in...:) You should not need to use remote libraries. You also really should not need to have the mysb.com integration working to use lms. Really, when a player comes up, it should "find" LMS as long as it's on the same network, and it's not looking for something else (like your old network). It has been a while bringing a touch into the mix, but I do it all the time with radios, so give this a try - make sure LMS is running full power off your radio (blank screen) press and hold '+' then press and hold power until the buttons flash, screen comes up. go through the setup, pick your network, then it should connect to your LMS. Like you said "my music" should take you there. This way you can test the players connection to the network, then LMS, and see where it fails, if it does. with the mysb.com integration (separate subject) I always test by going to favorites->on mysb.com (on player) or, switch to mysb.com is in the menus somewhere (settings-advanced-networking?), and see if I see my mysb.con favs (which are different). You can use my music to go back. A couple users have had the mysb.com credentials in LMS look ok, but when they reentered and restarted, it revealed they weren't ok. here is what I am thinking, here's a shot of my setup regarding setting the location where LM looks for it's data (cache and prefs) 37484 before you mount your HDD you should have one location, the pCP boot disk. This entry should have the black selection thingie. When you mount your HDD then you get another entry (like my "USB disk"), you can move the LMS data to this location, but you don't have to. don't let my third location confuse you, I purposely created a partition on the SD to keep my cache and prefs seperate. By default it's on the pCP boot disk, but if it (the location) got moved to the HDD, and it isn't there, that would cause LMS not to start. @muggo, the last I recall was you had LMS running on pCP, and you mounted your HDD, got samba setup, and could see it through a network location in windows. It may have been mentioned before, and it might be a bit premature, but a few of us here use freefilesync to mirror our library after additions, changes, etc. (there are others I have not used, rsync?) What I do, is my primary music library, which I maintain, add to, etc resides on my pc. I use freefilesync to maintain a mirror of the library on the pi HDD. I also use it to mirror to another SS HDD that I take to another location to mirror to that pi HDD. It is a bit extra work when you add new music, say, rip a CD to PC, freefilesync to pi HDD, rescan @ pcp. But the nice thing is that you have backup(s) of your music library. Similarly, I backup my PC's personal files (documents, photos, etc) to the pi HDD using freefile sync as well. So my personal files are also backed up. maybe I can offer an alternative approach to using the ip address in explorer. I have always followed the instructions here to mount the drive, configure samba, and create a windows network location (note the how toos might be a bit outdated): https://docs.picoreplayer.org/how-to/add_usb_hdd/ The only time I have had issues it was my fault, either: -windows cannot find network location- - I either have the server name, or the share name, wrong. Note it is case sensitive. -You do not have permission to access -- I don't have sambas password set correctly, or I entered it wrong. Here is an example from one of my setups: 37469 At the top I created two mount points to my pi connected HDD, one for music, and one for "data" (LMS config files). The arrows show "Music". In samba I set a server name (MoyerLMS) and a share name (MoyerLMSMusic) along with the share path, etc. Done on pi side. On windows, right click on "This PC" (my picture text is wrong in saying "My computer"), add network location, enter \\\. If you don't get it right, you will get the not found error. I think you then are asked for the un and pw, maybe when you try to access it Jim +---+ |Filename: samba.png| |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=37469| +---+ Redrum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115511 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

The last thing to mention, is if something is wrong with your mysb.com account. Michael (@mherger) could check that for you. To the best of my knowledge - tidal, tunein, pandora, etc, you have to have an active service account, login to each service at mysb.com using your credentials, install the associated plugin in LMS, and make sure lms is properly accessing mysb.com using your un and pw. If you are not familiar with the material interface (which sl-x uses), you should investigate, it is wonderful and adored by many :) There is an apk available if you use android. Also, I don't know what the mysb.com integration en/dis option really does (I have it disabled), but perhaps you could see if this has an effect. I have an alternative idea. If I understand it, you have LMS/mysb.com favorites that are tunein stations. You also access the tunein library on LMS tunein "app". In addition, you use a brower (or windows/mac app?) to log directly into tunein or your work station and manage your favorites there (in tune in). You also access the tune in library of stations. You want them in sync (favorites and station lists). Right? No? :) My thought is to stop using tunein directly on your workstation. Install Squeezelite-X (which serves as a player, but also uses the wonderful material UI). This way everything is on LMS/mysb.com. You have one set of favorites. You select from one list of stations. But you still can play audio on your sb equipment and from your workstation. In fact you can sync them. If I am off base with my understanding/thinking, just ignore me :) Jim Redrum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116061 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Philippe's "reliable" which got integrated into LMS as the "persistent" option, solved other podcast issues, but I can't remember if it solved what you describe. I'll test today, and look back and see if I can find that discussion. I'll also test it on a long song from my library on another unused player. I say "interesting" because I/we had assumed that the "losing place after extended time" was due to the http(s) connection being dropped by the provider, but maybe (?) it's an LMS thing instead. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Now where was I?
I don't mean to distract the conversation, but it seems like you are indicating it happens on more than BBC sounds? If this is the case, I had something similar with playing podcasts. I would go halfway through the podcast, and either stopped or paused. If I did not resume within a reasonable amount of time (say a couple hours) the position would be lost. If I resumed right away, fine. I "think" (not 100% sure) it was resolved with Philippe's "reliable" plugin, which eventually got integrated into LMS. I say "think" because it was discussed back then but I am not sure I ever tested the long pause causing position loss. Reliable solved the bigger issue of podcasts stopping and getting lost for no reason. Like I said, reliable was integrated into LMS. Try UI->settings->Advanced->Network (pull down)->Streaming Mode - select "persistent mode". Again, if I am steering this conversation off the road, please disregard...but, you should use persistent mode anyhow :) Jim Redrum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115999 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

I'm not sure the OP is really taking the time to understand and try the advice he is given. Regardless, I read back through and @Gordonb3's post #19, second paragraph, could possibly be what is going on, why the OP feels files are missing, needed files are being removed. It might be worth a try to completely uninstall any instances of LMS, even with an uninstall sw (like Revo?), reboot, reboot again :), get a new download (download again) of 8.2 and go from there. I can tell you how to do it if you were running picoreplayer (which can run LMS and squeezelite), but if you are just running sl, best for Ronnie to answer Your previous question that was not addressed. You can run LMS on just about anything, but, say a 3B+ or a 4B would be good choices. I have 2 systems of LMS only, one on a 3b+, one on a 4. The problem is you can't buy them new without waiting forever, buying kits with alot of stuff you don't need, or paying a major premium on places like ebay. For example, a pi 3b+ is normally $35USD, They go for about $100 on ebay, and you can buy "ultimate kits" on places like canakit for $140. In normal times, the members here would tell you to use a 4B because the rescans are faster, but in these times, it might be best to find a less desirable pi model (cheaper) to get LMS up and running and wait for the world to come back to normal ( I could add "how much longer? but won't :)). I am not the guy to ask which of the oldies would work. You could also just pay the going rate. If I didn't know I could get a 3b+ for $35, for what it can do, I might consider $100 a great deal. Regarding the operating system, I like picoreplayer, easy to setup, and alot of support here. Others might prefer something else. I thought this would be fun to play with, then I realized I don't own it :( I have an already mixed version. Didn't realize I had that until I looked! One thought to simplify - mix each disk 1-4 down to mono, then mix 1/2 and 3/4 into stereo. Use 4 radios (A-D), setup to use a pair of radios to play stereo. So 1/2->Radio A (L) Radio B(R), 3/4->Radio C (L), Radio D (R) Then you only have to start the two pairs of radios together. But, while I do have 4 radios, I don't have the media Jim Redrum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115927 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

I agree 100% with most of this, but if your comment at the end that "some seem to suggest" Windows is the problem is just not true. Every post suggested that a clean install should work, but maybe getting the tray icon would take a bit of twiddling, but as @gordon b3 suggested (and others as well) the tray icon is irrelevant. Before i ditched running LMS on windows, I do remember this icon disappearing as well. I am not a windows expert, more of a victim. I moved to a raspberry pi for LMS (as suggested) and have not looked back. But, having run LMS on windows I have seen your initial problem. Especially "where is the icon"? I assume after your first install LMS ran? Did you look to see if the LMS icon in the tray was hidden (click the '^'). If so, you can choose to "show" the icon (right click '^'->taskbar settings->notification area). Also, it seems to me that "administrator" restrictions are worse in win10 than win7. I am always logged in as an administrator, yet I run into all sorts of issues that boil down to having to right click->run as administrator. Freefilesync is an example, where it didn't use to happen. as @bpa suggests, clean up the mess and start with a fresh install of 8.2 making sure you are logged in as an administrator, then explicitly install and run as an administrator. Then as @slarti suggests, get on a preorder list for a raspberry pi 3b+ or 4, power supply, case, micro SD and whatever storage you need. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Touchscreen display for piCorePlayer
I have been thinking of doing something similar, so I bought a Amazon Fire 8" tablet I didn't need on Black Friday for, I think about $60USD (currently about 90). You can currently get the 7" one for about $50. The Fire tablets are inexpensive in part because Amazon is selling you an Amazon promotion and advertisement machine. You can (I have) use the XDA Developers "Fire Toolkit" to "de-amazon" the tablet and return it close to stock android. Installed the Material apk from F-Droid and I have it laying around in my main listening area to use as a squeezebox UI. You can modify it via developer options to stay awake, or, I believe there are non root options to have a "tap or swipe to wake" out there... My thought was to have it in a box with a pi, build the box to allow the charger micro USB to be inserted in the side (maybe a right angle adaptor). The only other challenge is if you leave it always on, or have a screensaver with tap or swipe to wake it. I haven't really tried to think that through yet as I haven't started the project, especially with rpi's in short supply. I think Ideally I would want it to remain on while playing, screensaver otherwise. Haven't looked into how to do that. The nice thing is the Material interface is wonderful (thanks again Craig!) and you also have a fully functioning tablet on the wall to be able to pop up weather, or whatever in addition to your sb control.
