I had the exact reverse problem yesterday for a number of my users: they could

In our case, the DB move went very smoothly. However, as Michael and Rich have
both asserted to, the new SQL server needs to have the BES scheme updated in
its master tables or something like that. To get around that we simply allowed
BES to create a new database on the destination SQL server,

When I rang my carrier they weren't bothered at all - he even said he'd
encourage an OS upgrade! YMMV of course, but you can always downgrade to the
latest official OS before you send it in if you have reservations.

Not much to add except to take advantage of the VM and take a snapshot before
you do the upgrade. You don't say where your database is stored but even so,
you will be looking at a DB restore only if things go a bit wrong.

I'd connect to the device to my PC using USB. You should see two disks -
Blackberry and Media Card - depending on the volume labels of the disks.
Simply copy your desired files from Blackberry to Media Card.

I skipped SP2, but went from 5.0.0 5.0.1 5.0.3 and have never seen this
issue. All the admins I've added, who don't have Blackberrys, have stayed added.
I'd suggest an upgrade to SP3 MR2 if your main admin guy agrees. It'll need a
schema upgrade on the BES configuration and monitoring
this in the release notes. Googlefu is failing me.
We're currently on 5 SP3 MR1.

Personally, I'd use the BB desktop manager software to sync the contacts with a
temporary Outlook profile. From there, you can export those contacts into a

Our BES has been a bit funny after upgrading to Exchange 2010 SP2+RU3. Some
users are saying they aren't receiving messages at all, others are are only
receiving /some/ messages (me included). If I send a message from my device, it
takes about 10 minutes to get delivered.
