However once you are in Scribus you may find that most of what you need
to do can be done in CMYK in that program. My rule is: if headed toward
web presentation work in RGB, if headed for print work in CMYK.

true for a cmyk psd file. The separate-import plugin will import
a cmyk tiff file. I trawled out an old-ish gimp-plugins-registry.deb file ( the
latest seems to have some strange dependencies) and import does work.
It is hidden away in the File -> Create menu.

in gimp_install_procedure() already contained a
path. To make this work, pass just the menu's label to
gimp_install_procedure().
Why are the errors stemming from /usr/lib/gimp/2.0
Doesn't seems there are any scripts in there..just some executables and
some Python programs. Do those fil
waste them.

up in stable 2.4. It was first implemented as a plug-in, but I can't
seem to find its source code and even so I'm not sure it would work in
v2.2. I'd suggest going for 2.4 or even 2.6 if possible.
