Another way to look at it: R's get all the in-fighting out of their system now, by next spring there should be a clear winner or maybe just a couple, then plenty of time to get over the hurt feelings and get to work. Die-hard R's and D's can't be swayed, but independents sometimes wait until the last couple of months or even less before they start paying attention. I think Trump's polling numbers jumped, indicating approval for his so-called "attack" on McCain, which according to Flush Limbaugh means that the lamestream media's ability to influence voters has greatly declined. This is like Floriduhs last gubernatorial election. Scott, the former healthcare syndicate CEO who avoided prosecution, got back into office because Charlie Crist and others decided they wanted to play in the sandbox all at the same time. It split the dissenting vote into a bunch of little factions, all far too small to be a threat to Skeletor Scott. Right now, the Republicans have so many potential candidates that are all trying to appeal to various blocks of voters that if the election happened today they wouldn't have anything remotely approaching a majority. Not to mention that The Donald keeps dredging up topics none of the others want to address, keeping them miles away from any sort of meaningful public discussions. http://www.wnd.com/2015/07/mccain-and-the-pow-cover-up/ The above link may lay out some of the un-resolved McCain issues. As a party of the other side of the isle, you may find it of interest. McCain is not a shoe in ever again after the past 2 yrs of failing to preform for his electorate. He has been effective at disguising the black cloud that follows him every were.. however, it has caught up with him again.. Censured by the Republican party in AZ... AND the National Republican Party as well... I was the primary care giver for the widow of one of the missing vets in Vietnam for the past 2 yrs while she died of cancer. One of her last requests was that I find the true and whole story of what actually happened to her husband, who was also a service friend of mine. He, and 9 men under his command all went MIA at the same time. As you will see from the link above, McCain has done his best to ensure that will not happen, along with John "I write my own purple hearts" Kerry. Upon reflection and review of the true facts.. Trump may have been both brutal and honest. Mercedes question: Anyone know where I can buy new headlight surround assemblies for my "new" 82 300 CD Coupe? Also tailights.. and turn lights.. Re: [MBZ] Trump card
Well said, Wilton. Any and all who went North earned and deserve respect. I know three John McCain The ego driven hotdog pilot, who likely benefited from and used to his advantage, being the Admirals son. Who I hold in pretty low regard. The Prisoner of War, who I respect, and thanked for having endured the endless torture and privation. The Senator, who for 32 yrs, has spoken much, but done little, who dumped and divorced the mother of his children, who stood by him all the while he was POW, and who then married the rich young hottie, and I hold that one in pretty low regard also. Trump didn't get where he is by being shy and retiring. He is smart and ruthless. He also is not intimidated by anyone... So, I don't see an apology in the future. McCain and the rest of us are seeing a game change in action. Trump, even if defeated will have "left his mark" before it's over in how DC elites do business. Frankly, it's the kind of "hope and change" much of America had in mind when the present administration sold the phrase. Should be interesting to watch them run away from it now. Hear here! I respect # 2 for what he endured, But #s 1 and 3 are a$$holes. I will have to be convinced that trump meant anything less. And in trumps winner take all world, being captured is worse than being dead. particularly with his radio hanoi broadcasts. Question: If Germany had not made war on the civilized world, would we be driving Mercedes cars today? Would they have been "discovered" in America? I'd guess the answers would still be yes and yes. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Re: [MBZ] Trump card - tail lights
I believe Coupe and Sedan are same light housing and lens. I was hoping to score a full set of new ones to go into the restoration. I would like to make it as close to "new" as possible, and lights and trim are those little details that need to look "fresh" to look new. The Coupe is an Arizona car, so no rust, but major sun damage.. Plastic parts are turned to dust in AZ sun, as well as interiors.. this Coupe has received 33 years of relentless AZ sun. Schedule is for a full "bare frame" tear down to bare metal for repaint [AZ sun again]. Re-assembly will require all the rubber bits, glass, and interior, including recovering the dash pad. "Martha" will be moving in full time, it seems.. ha Grant... On Tue, Jul 21, 2015 at 6:22 PM, Curt Raymond via Mercedes < mercedes@okiebenz.com> wrote: > One side or both? Re: [MBZ] Trump card
The re-election rate (for both parties) is about 98%, I think. Many reasons for that. The high re-election reason that I think should be changed is gerry-meandering of congressional districts. Rigging the district boundaries to ensure one party or the other will hold an elected seat should be a crime. I'm not sure what a fair method is, but I think our current system favors the political class, not the citizens. Requiring proof of citizenship and providing a voter ID should also be the normal method for all state and federal elections, but I don't think we can blame that for a high re-election rate. Federal money for candidates? I love the idea, but give the power to the citizens by requiring each registered voter to designate which candidate gets his share. This will force candidates to compete for that money by actually interfacing & interacting with citizens, and not just special interest groups. No party line designation either, voter needs to actually identify the candidate by name to designate them as recipient of the money. Oh yeah, and only veterans who have served in a war zone are eligible to vote for federal offices... -- Max Dillon Charleston SC '87 300TD '95 E300 On July 21, 2015 1:35:14 PM EDT, Andrew Strasfogel via Mercedes wrote: >Well a whole lot of hatin' going on.
Question: If Germany had not made war on the civilized world, would we be driving Mercedes cars today? Would they have been "discovered" in America? Re: [MBZ] Trump card
In a sense, Trump was right - McCain and others would not have been so "famous" and considered so "heroic" if they had not been shot down and captured - selected by Fate to endure the unimaginable. But for the Grace of God there was I. I'm not so sure I could have endured the many years of captivity and torture that they did, though, and I'm extremely thankful that I never had to try. Those of us lucky enough to have NOT been shot down occasionally discussed the subject, but not one of us was willing to exchange places with a POW. I have great respect for every one them and what they endured. So, in a literal sense, Trump was right - ya just can't say it like that - well, Trump, who "dodged" such service completely, can't (shouldn't), anyway. Re: [MBZ] Trump card
http://www.tmz.com/2015/07/18/donald-trump-john-mccain-not-a-war-hero-vietnam-video/ I believe this video clip shows the actual words Trump said. However, even this is a "clipped clip" and it seems the news media is failing to post the full interview... Personally, I'm feeling manipulated. I'd like them to just give the full facts, I'll make my own choices and decisions. Regards comment above about rockets on USS Forestall. Here is the info I have. McCain was not a great pilot. He holds a record for destruction of American aircraft prior to being shot down. He was a "big ego hotdog" [so it is said] who practiced a "full flame hot start" that comes from deliberately over fueling on engine start to give a burst of fire and flame out the tail pipe on ignition. Story is, McCain did that in the fully armed fighter stack on the ship. That caused the plane next to and slightly behind him to cook off the under wing rockets in an UN-commanded rocket launch down the flight deck, which caught the ship on fire and caused the greatest loss of life of American sailors since WW2. Story continues that McCain [son of Admiral McCain] was "Immediately flown off the ship, even before injured and burned crew members]. I was not there, so it's only second hand info.. from people who were there, so take it as that. There was an inquiry. That is documented record, but sealed details. He was given a free pass on the incident, and it did not set well with the other navy pilots or ship crew. He was re-assigned post incident, which in "military speak" says the brass were not that happy with the inquiry results, either. It was after that incident that he was "conveniently" shot down over North Vietnam. Speculation at the time, and remaining, is that it could have been "friendly fire". We will never know for sure, Vietnam was happy to hold and charge him as a "war criminal" and the Navy pilot [if any] that cooked off a rocket up his tailpipe [if that happened] will never talk. Post release from North Vietnam, he was charged with aiding and abetting the enemy, and those complaints can be found in full with a bit of effort. He was given a Presidential Pardon which quashed those charges [again, skuttlebutt says Admiral fathers influence saved him from yet another embarrassment]. So, even though I know the man, voted for him, shook his hand on numerous occasions, and thanked him for his service to the country.. he does not like me because I always ask ego bruising questions about his present performance as Senator and head of the Armed Services Committee. Un-like Trump.. I ask for his resignation, which really pissed off his ego. Popcorn and drinks anyone... let us watch the show.. it should be entertaining for the next 12 months... Grant... Who has been busy in spare moments preparing his "new" 300CD Coupe for full restoration. It should be a beauty [in the eyes of the owner, at least]. Good point, we actually had some contributions (on topic!) from new folks and some old who haven't been too active. Maybe that was because I stopped taking Andrew seriously? I heard _The Don_ speak at a local gathering last fall at the Citadel, he warmed up the room for Tim Scott, but upstaged him. My wife really enjoyed his accent and direct manner of speaking, he really doesn't care who gets offended. Very entertaining. I'd love to hear his first State of the Union address, I suspect we'd have multiple instances from the Dem side of outbursts like Joe "You Lie!" The way I see it, within the next few months Trump will have alienated all but a very small core group of Republicans, and at that point he'll become irrelevant. The ballot box will only work IF an American is on the ballot in place of the usual socilist vs maxist/comminist choices AND (as you pointed out) IF sorry as crew can't successfully stuff the ballot boxes as usual. History repeats itself. Those who are ignorant of history are doomed to repeat it. Adolph Chamberlain has more tricks up his sleeve. His namesake burned the bundestag, then disbanded it by "executive order." Chamberlain has already neutered the gress of con. He is following the same plan. I predict a fire or other event will lead to disbanding the 435 cons and assumption of dictatorial status. Marty al law will be next, probably in the same teleprompter reading. At that point sore ross will be in control. True evil. A Bond villain or batman/superman villain with a puppet. then the "cultural rev ol ution" will begin. Sure ria law is adolph's goal. Some where in this process the call toa rms will occur. At this point the trump card may be in play. Not pretty, but lets revisit the topic in 2 years and see if the pre diction did or did not prove accurate. As amazing as it may seem, after listening to the hoplophobic media, in 60+ years, I have never had a rifle assault me on its own. I do find it worthy of notice however, the latest murder by muslim was committed in a "gun free zone" just like the last 20 or so such multiple murders. Apparently, criminals can't read the signs. Imagine that. Perhaps a bright muzzle flash would provide them the proper illumination so they could read the sign? I predict an orderly revolt at the ballot box. I further predict, should that be perverted by the likes of Soros controlling the vote count, a full on revolt by well and truly pissed off American Citizens who, once in motion will be slow to cool down.. I do hope we don't go there. However, being the Capitalist I am.. I've bought future positions in rope and axe handles... and I do hold the production rights to a Guillotine design .. Just in case. One other interesting exchange was with a young guy from West Texas who had come to the meeting to see for himself what Soros was about. He stated this in his question, then asked why Soros was opposed to guns when he had seen what happened to people in the war who could not defend themselves, and who had been subjugated by the Nazis. Soros started some song and dance about well I'm not really opposed blah blah and the kid just would not let him worm out of it. The kid sounded like a total West Texas goober but he was quite smart and very tenacious. At some point he referenced the gun he had in his pocket and I thought a lot of the audience was going to soil their pants right then and there. This goes back and forth for a few minutes, the kid had Soros all tied up and basically told him in a very firm and polite way that he was evil and a hypocrite, and the audience was going crazy, a lot of the old hippies yelling at the kid who threw it right back at them. it was on the verge of getting way out of control and the moderator finally shut everyone up, Soros made a few smartass comments that got the base cheering, but the old hippies were still mouthing off about the gun-totin kid who cleaned Soros mighty well. Soros is a truly evil person. --R Is there video or audio of that exchange? It sounds delightful. Soros has a big house in the Hamptons, next door to a friend of a friend, also next door to Roger Waters's house there. My friend has attended gatherings at which Soros has been, and he always appears with one of his young "nieces." My buddy and I went to an event in Houston where Soros spoke (sponsored by The Progressive Forum) as my buddy wanted me to get some first-hand exposure to the guy. It was a fascinating evening hearing him speak in sort of a Q&A format (questions by the moderator then by some audience members). [BTW way I have met the friend of the friend, who is Czech, and whose family endured the hardships of the Nazis and the commies, and who managed to come to the US, get educated, and make a LOT of money -- he is a very nice guy, very smart, and quite savvy about people. He consorts with Soros occasionally to see what he is about, and also to keep tabs on what he is up to in his various political and business efforts) Soros is completely amoral, which became abundantly apparent from his answers to questions. One audience member asked him how he came to be like that (might not have actually asked him why we was amoral, but that was the gist of the question) and he related a story: His father had been captured by the Russians during WW2 and sent to Siberian prison camp. He managed to escape and over a period of a few months and returned to Budapest (I think it was) where he and George, themselves Jews, started ratting out Jews to the Nazis in exchange for money and whatever. George said he asked his father what he did to make it back, and the father replied, "Whatever it took" and that was the lesson George used in his own life. So, not only was he complicit in the murders of many Jews by the Nazis during the war, he continued/s his amoral practices in his business dealings and in his various "progressive" endeavors. Soros made on apologies for any of this, in fact seemed somewhat proud of it as he did "whatever it took." One other interesting exchange was with a young guy from West Texas who had come to the meeting to see for himself what Soros was about. He stated this in his question, then asked why Soros was opposed to guns when he had seen what happened to people in the war who could not defend themselves, and who had been subjugated by the Nazis. Soros started some song and dance about well I'm not really opposed blah blah and the kid just would not let him worm out of it.
