I've never gotten this to work. On the Tools | Preferences, color/gray tab,
clicking in the gray column pops up a panel (with 64 squares, but only 4
shades!), but clicking in the color column does nothing. I tried just now,

I have not yet really had a chance to push protel hard under XP, but
I have not had any problems yet (knock on wood). I have been running XP for

problems to report. I started using Protel with Win XP RC1 back in May or

What command are you using to move the text/component?
If you use M C move component it is much faster than
using the left click and hold or M M move move command.
It is also possible to setup new hot keys for (M)ove
(T)ext so that there is less database to search.
