Wow! I've never heard of a FeLV test getting lighter and lighter each time.
Do you know if the vet that is testing her is using blood with the ELISA
test or tears? I know using blood for testing is more accurate. You may also
should have the vet do an IFA test as well, just to be certain. She
Wow, my orange/white kitty had it as well. What's up with that color, or is
it just a coincidence??

Well said, Lorrie...we are their voice! I cannot be who I am without at
least a feline in my house. My husband totally agrees with that. It's who I
am.It's who we are!
Have a happy Easter everyone!

I've heard and read that testing for FeLV using tears and saliva is very
inaccurate. Blood test is the only way to go. Tears and saliva are not as
sensitive using these samples. I highly recommend using blood to test. Here

Sherry, I feel your pain and am so sorry for your loss! I bet he was very
lucky to have you!! This past March I lost a 9 mos. old kitten to Felv that
tested negative for it in November. Now I'm worried about my other cat. I
hope they find a cure to this horrible/deadly disease!

Jannes, your husband is on his way! Look at what he has already done. I bet
he likes Amber more than you realize.
I'm glad I found this site as well. It's great to communicate with a bunch

Maureen, this is so comforting! I'm waiting until May 9th (it will be his
second test since exposure but only within 2 mos - my vet wants me to wait 3
mos. before she thinks he is safe). I do understand that his chances of
contracting it are a lot less than if he were a kitten. I'm so glad he
I always love to hear positive experiences with FeLV+ cats. I still hope
that mine will continue to test negative. May 9th can't get here soon enough
for me!

Positive on the ELISA, but NEG on the IFA test usually means that the virus
is in the early stages. Poppy's immune system still has a chance of clearing
the virus. I believe it is 6-8 weeks to do another IFA test. She still has
hope and I am happy for you.

Pam,
I've done a lot of research myself and I asked my vet many questions.
Here is a link that was very helpful to me and I had my vet review this
