I'm reviewing Gimp 2.6.4 and this is the first in a long list of stupid
questions I'll be asking. Since pixmap brushes can't be edited and their
spacing isn't stored across relaunches, can you edit the default spacing of
brushes? 25 is wy too big and I'm getting bad stepping with my
imp
ith the icon showing the cross through the circle indicating the
layer can't be moved. What the heck is up with that? I never had that issue in
Photoshop.
Anyone seen this before?

Set the hardness & radius to what you want.
Then open the shortcut editor and find the Increase/Decrease brush size entries,
and assign shortcuts to them.
You cannot change the size or hardness of a brush during a stroke.

I'm scanning in images at 42 bit depth, but unfortunately my software
doesn't do LZW TIFF compression so I'm using gimp for that. If I read in to
gimp a 42 bit file and write out a compressed TIFF, I guess I've lost my 42
bit depth until gimp supports 42 bit. Is that

You should get a pinwheel effect. To change the pinwheel, you just need
to change the gradient.

colour under the pointer in the "Pointer" dock in 2.3 - I can't remember

Someone please remove me from the list. I've tried the instructions that
come with each email several times but my email requests bounce and the
login doesn't accept my password. Hitting the unsubscribe button does
nothing and trying to change my password doesn't seem to send an email at

That said, all that you probably need to do is install the -devel packages for
the already-present gtk+ packages.
Oh - also, note that 1.3.9 might not work with gtk+ 2.2 - back then we were
still building against 2.0.

the packages then ...
apt-get build-dep x
apt-get source --build
dpkg -i .deb (generated from the previous command)
