You’re generally best off silently deleting junk, otherwise you only confirm the existence of your email (Apple Mail can’t do a ‘proper’ user-unknown bounce) and you’ll end up getting more spam. Try setting up a rule to catch emails with a specific set of words and delete automatically.

Well I have several mailboxes along the top of my mail window ie. Inbox, Sent, Drafts etc. If one clicks on one when I click the Mail symbol in the Dock and wait until the contextual window comes up the top line shows the name of the mailbox i have active in Mail and the number of messages.

You'll need to make sure all your accounts are set up with IMAP, across all devices. If one's set to use POP, it'll delete emails from the server, which will then delete from your IMAP accounts because they read directly from the mailbox on the server. Don't delete any POP accounts in Mail, or
