build, and following my latest goof (forgetting to install W6 a

have used. I have some questions, though.
1.) The filter "C1," or "c1" comes up on the menu as a lowpass filter and seems
to be fixed. Can it be changed to a bandpass ? If so, how ? The manual is
not clear on this.

The Pelican cases work great. The KX1 will just fit in a 1060 case, but I
prefer the slightly larger, better padded 1120. Pelican cases aren't cheap,
but neither is the KX1. Pelican cases have protected my cameras on numerous
cross-country ski trips (I fall a lot) and on whitewater river trip
It's not very pretty, but a great way to slow down your bug is to clip an
old-fashioned spring-type clothespin to the thumbscrews of the weights. You
can wrap solder around the ears of the clothespin to add more weight and slow

I've found it necessary to use both the shift and Fine tuning-- these
are not optional for effective use of APF. I've been using macros to
engage and dis-engage the APF.

I guess what I really want (and can currently afford) is an upgraded K3,
not a new K3S. I have an earlier s/n K3 (#1061), and have done some of
the mods, but not all of them. For example, I have the new synthesizer,
but not the upgraded DSP board, or even the audi

Interesting discussion of the RPN calculators!
I've been a user of RPN calculators for fifty years now. I started my EE
career in 1966 still using slide rules.
My first calculator was the HP-25C, then went to the HP-67 and several
others after that. My favorite is the HP-28S, which is marvelous
I wrote a review of the N6BT Bravo 7K antenna for eHam about a year ago.
After using it for a year on all bands (40 thru 10 meters), I remain very
pleased with it. Band changing can be accomplished in just a few minutes.
It seems to perform as well as my Force 12 Sigma 40XK, and is easier to

I used a HA-1 keyer during the early 1960's. However, it was not the
first successful commercial electronic keyer!
It was my third keyer. My first keyer was the "Mon Key," which did not

Ron, if you have an amplifier in line, check the amplifier relay contacts.
I had to clean the relay contacts in my AL-80B about once per year.
The symptoms were just as you described.

Like others, I find it works better in some situations than others.
But I would not have been able to copy and work RI1FJ

without this new tool.
