Yes, you can set that volume in the Score Manager, not in the Aria Mixer. DO not use the Aria Mixer volume sliders. They are controlled dynamically by Finale to adjust playback nuances. Go into score manager and assign instruments at the layer level, not at the staff level. In the Score

This is a (big) problem with the GPO strings. You could try putting accents on the notes and hiding the accents, or using the MIDI tool to increase the velocity (with HP set to Incorporate MIDI) but IMO it's a fundamental weakness in the sample library and there's only so much that can be done.

Are you sure that the slow loading isn't a memory shortage problem? I used GPO on my old computer 512K of memory and had time cook a three course meal whilst orchestral files opened and then had horrendous problems playing them back. My new computer with 1G of RAM displays no such

This is but one of many range peculularities in GPO. That one is very odd, becaue there are four bass clarinet samples, and all have the same low-range limit. Bass clarinets either stop at low Db or Bb (concert pitch), never B. Perhaps you could load a contrabass clar sample in another
