Since I got the GPO, I never use the Finale sounds. Within the instruments
covered GPO has a way better variety. Specialties like alto and bass flutes are
also covered much better.

good. So are the horns and the tubas. The trumpets and the trombones are not

had only a 3 octave set of handbell sounds, someone edited the Handbell
samples to create a five octave set. However, I don't know how to do it.
Use expressions to send pitchwheel data. Garritan instruments can be transposed
up or down up to an octave via pitchwheel.
It's a little tricky so you'll want to read the manual on pitchwheel data.

but balance is a very delicate matter and you can't expect the
machines to do it properly without tweaking. Major orchestras that
have played together for years still need tweaking, so we have to
adjust our expectations for Finale

odd, becaue there are four bass clarinet samples, and all have the same

For the first time I was actually trying to make some good use of GPO in
Fin 2k6. I just spent about two hours on trying to get a piece sounding
nicely. Within this time Finale crashed badly three times, either while
playing back or while I was adjusting something in GPO.
For the moment
I don't blame ya.
One thing I discovered is the GPO studio works fine with Fin2006.
Doesn't resolve all stupidities but a few of 'em. If I were the God
of Finale I'd start looking for a Noah. Corrupt, vile, world of misery
that it has turned into.
