hard to code up a generator that reads the master list and parses out

I second this. I just had an issue applying tags in a plugin due to the
truncation issue. At the present moment, it's not feasable for plugins to force
tags (such as respawntimes, friendlyfire, etc) since the tag might end up
getting cut off.

On this I'm going to have to disagree. Clients are more than welcome to
disconnect from servers that do things they don't like, and even blacklist
them. Server owners should still maintain control over how their servers
operate, even if what they do is unpopular.

Someone could possibly write a plugin that queries the Web API for a user’s
items and checks if any have inappropriate names. If any do, deal with the
player accordingly.
Wouldn’t work if they have a private backpack though.
