the water supply so as to monitor the integrity of the standpipe in case some
brass bandit decided the hose valves had to be theirs or someone crashed into

begin with. I’m not sure the upfront cost to save that stick of pipe warrants
it.
You might try to encourage the designer/installer to change that piece of pipe
to CPVC…

It sounds like an apartment building. If the floors above are CPVC systems,
they wouldn’t require an air vent.
I would argue the use of metal devices in the valve assembly does not
constitute a metallic pipe system.

Have you looked at mechanical latching dry valves? The higher the water
pressure, the more force holding the clapper closed.

Todd, if I’m reading this correctly that means you have a safety margin on your
system. That’s a good thing that your system provides more pressure than is
required.
It would be cause for concern if the gauge showed less than required.

I’d be less worried about the “structural component” aspect. My real fear would
be that I doubt you have the 1” ductwork to apply the 3x rule to beings that
it’s 3” above it.

When you cannot apply one of the obstruction rules, it does not mean that there
isn’t an obstruction.
If you think about this scenario the same way you would with sprinklers
directly attached to a pipe, that’s where to start. Look at the 3x rule or
sprinklers on each side.

A lot easier to get pipe through there. Just coordinate with other trades about

can drain. If you can coordinate with the attic catwalk, you want it to be
offset of center and you'll hang your main on the side that the catwalk is not
