The original name was, most likely Joseph (Jose) Mancebo Rodrigues.
If he emigrated from the Azores in the 1800's you may be able to find him in
the CCA site under passports.

benn born to them in November 1824 (see CCa Image No. 135, tp right). the
mother's name there is Francisca de Jesus, but the time frame fits as does most

That is pretty sketchy. Any details?

I can see 27 1776. Based on the fact that the previous record is for the
27 de Abril de 1776 and the one following is for 5 de Junho de 1776 and also
that the word for the month although very faint, does not resemble de previous
record for Abril I would tend to say that

being weak. the priest the acertained tha Maria was bpatised properly on the
date on the first line and given to the care of Maria Correia wife of Andre
Teixeira.

Records for this time period mostly didn't show parents names.
Rick is right the year is 1542, however I ake the day as 26. The two xx's
