Brewtus III water tap question

2011-04-03 Thread Cindy Goddard
Hello everyone This morning I turned on my water tap to warm up my cup when the water coming out was a light beige color with a few grinds in it. I rarely have used the tap, so I was a little startled that the water wasn't clear. I ran it a few more times and the water finally got clearer. But

It draws water from the steam boiler. The steam boiler runs hotter thus the drop in temperature. The solids in the water aren't coffee grinds. It should be scale and/ or minerals. On Apr 3, 1:06 pm, Cindy Goddard bigstormg...@gmail.com wrote: Hello everyone This morning I turned on my water

Ben, Thanks for that great tip on holding the Calfiza backflush. I let it sit for a few minutes and then rinsed the heck out of it. I then pulled a noticeably cleaner shot - one of my best ever! It was my fifth espresso of the morning so I left it at that. I hope I don't find tomorrow that

Kitt, I have changed temperatures a few times. Seems to taste the same no matter where I adjust the PID. I've gone from 197 to 201. I may need to get a instant read thermometer to see what the brew temp may really be. I have a untrained palette when it comes to the taste of espresso, so it

Hi Cindy, I agree with everything so far. Another tip when backflushing with Cafiza--backflush once, then build pressure again, and then pull the lever only to its middle position, not all the way down. This keeps pressure on the group, but lets the pump stop running. You can let the Cafiza

Hmmm... Well, not sure what to recommend then. Maybe a different blend and/or roaster. Maybe a larger dose so you don't have to grind as fine. Just thinking out loud. I know a lot of guys who have good results with a 14g dose, though, but it may be a different coffee than what you're using,

Cindy, If he coffee has a lingering, bitter after-taste, sometimes it is an indication that the temperature is set just a little too high for that particular blend. Try backing the temperature down by about 2 degrees and see if it gets better. You can play with he temperature and taste your

Hi Cindy, Having just installed a PID in my B2 today, I can say with confidence that the PID is reading temp at the boiler. It has a thermowell in the top of the boiler and a short wire to the PID unit. You can read about many experiments with temp probes inside the PF, etc. on homebarista
