Agreed. Anyway it's kinda hard to go for the items when you'e got enemies after you on all sides, plus blades on either side, a boulder and a fireball coming at you and one of those darn police cars from level 12 on top of that. So yes, I'd say there are some balance issues with Battle Zone.
