As I said briefly in my earlier post, the best hand-to-hand, unarmed, technique would be anything involving throws, locks, or pressure points. Also, if you are a cane user, that can function as a pretty nice deterrent. Plus, if you're being attacked for real, don't worry about innocent bystanders.
