compatible receiver on the network, you can route the output from any

IMHO that is right.

I am running LMS 7.8 on a QNAP TS-869L, and am very unfamiliar with
Linux. Would it be possible for someone to write a step by step on how
to install this plug-in which could be followed even by utter Linux
 noobs like me?

I can try to write a step by step howto and I managed to get the plugin
running on my linux system with LMS, but this is a normal linux and no
Qnap with limmited possebilities of available packages, e.g. You have to
install some aditional perl modules for example to get the shairtunes
plugin running, I don't know if it is possible to install these perl
modules via a packaging system or cpan. Also the avahi configuration has
to be modified, no plan if this can be done on the Qnaps without side
effects to the rest of the system.

at the first hurdle. When I try and add the repo linked to by StuartUSA
in post 17 of this thread to LMS, I get the following error message:

 Bad repository
 http://raw2.github.com/StuartUSA/shairport_plugin/master/public.xml -
Redirection limit exceeded - can anyone help me with that?

I had the same error and for that reason I've installed the plugin
manualy. This can be done by coping the downloaded and unpacked plugin
directory in to /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/Plugins. Then the file
permissions has to be corected and after that the plugin can be enabled
via the LMS web interface.

If I can get to the point where the plug-in is installed, I understand
that I then need to compile the helper app, on Linux. To do that, I
need to SSH into the Qnap box linux interface and then simply type the
commands as shown at the bottom of
https://github.com/StuartUSA/shairport_plugin. Please tell me if this is
 wrong.

If no of the pre-compiled binaries are running on your Qnap, you are not
wrong and you really have to compile the shairtunes_helper binary. And
that ist the next problem with the Qnaps..., you need an environment to
compile binaries, no plan if the packages needed for this environment
can be installed or how I can get such an environment.

As said, I can try to write a step to step howto for the installation on
a normal linux system, but to know how the plugin can be installed on a
Qnap I need to have ssh access and root priveleges to such an device and
also then installation can be different depending on the system
architecture

  Christian

You could use the pre-compiled binaries available from the 'squeezelite

When I was trying the precompiled packages the last time they where not
compiled with support for mp3 and flac for licence reasons, because
there is no way to compile them on Mac OS with support for this

Maybe another possebility would be to use the precompiled package and
let the server recode a stream with a not supported format into a format
which squeezelite is able to play, but at the moment I don't know if
this is possible...

Have you ssh access to your nas? You should run the binary in a terminal if

Or you copy the file to the same location, where the plugin stores the file

Spotify with the Triode plugin seemed like the best solution, however
 spotifyd will not run.

I think there is no version of spotifyd for you cpu architecture. The file
command on the spotify binary for the Mac tells the following:

spotifyd: Mach-O universal binary with 2 architectures
spotifyd (for architecture x86_64): Mach-O 64-bit executable x86_64
spotifyd (for architecture i386): Mach-O executable i386

Since this device is ppc and not arm or i386 I'm thinking this is the
end of the road. Am I right?

Yes, if there are really no PPC binaries for the plugin...

But there is also the official spotify plugin from Logitech. It is not that

content.

Everything is working fine so far, but if I start a new mix based

(the number differs) and then it is stopping. If I switch to the next
song in the playlist which was created by SmartMix, everything is fine
again for the next few songs..., until the next stop occures :-(.

Is this a wanted behaviour or should the SmartMix pluging take care for
playing music till the playback is stopped manualy?

If it is not a wanted behaviour, what could be the reason? I can't find
anything in the server logs, have increased the loglevel for the plugin

I also just want to say a big thanks to you, Michael, for this great

such a plugin in the LMS universe :-(. I really hope there will be any
kind of alternative in the future...

What about http://www.ExploreMatch.com?

Sure, it is not for free, but if someone builds a pluging which can be
used by paying some money for licences, this would at least be OK for

I wanted to check this during the evening, but there is another problem
now. The following is in the logfile and I can't call the settings for
the pluging anymore:

[16-07-30 02:19:29.5415] Slim::Control::Request::execute (1888) Error:

Also I've found entries like this:

[16-07-29 12:19:23.8867] Slim::Utils::Misc::msg (1244) Warning:

} at
/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/LastMix/DontStopTheMusic.pm
 line 100.

The first error occured after updating to
logitechmediaserver_7.9.0~1469802843_amd64.deb this evening, the second
error was with logitechmediaserver_7.9.0~1469605610_all.deb (yes, I am
using the full 64 bit version now). With the older LMS version the
settings menu for DSTM was displayed.

My system is Debian Wheezy 64 bit with the latest patches, perl version
is 5.14. I can provide more infos if needed, just let me know. Also I
can update to a newer Debian or perl version if this will help.

Have you tried the installation of any of these spotify connect web
plugins during the last months. I've tried and all those plugins
require a spotify api key for developpers, but spotify does not longer
offer such a key.

Also all those plugins are based on libspotify, a libary which is not
developped and maintained any longer.

I use the spotify app on my iOS device and stream music to my
squeezeboxes via AirPlay. For Android some kind of UPMP plugin
/extension might work. Why not using that kind of setup?

Developing a spotify connect web pluging currently makes no sense.
Nobody knows what will happen when libspotify can't be used any

will the WaveInput for Linux plugin work with pulseaudio, especialy with
virtual pulseaudio sound cards?

I am using LMS in a lxc container environment where no sound card is
present and I'd like to stream the output of a program, e.g. mplayer,

I haave no idea, if the WaveInput plugin can be used for such a setup,

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Squeeze-Controller [windows, linux, osx] Alpha, Testers Wanted

2016-08-17 Thread Christian Schoepplein
Hi,

I've also tried Squeeze-Controller on my Mac now, but the app can not connect
to my local LMS... I'm not sure, if it is related to the app or to the fact
that I am using the Mac with the integrated VoiceOver screen reader.

I can enter the ip address of my LMS, but I'm not sure, if I also have to enter
http:// in front of it.

As port I entered 9000, is this correct and the default? If it is the default,
maybe this entry could be already present in the textfield.

After that I tried to activate the save button either via keyboard or trackpad,
but nothing changed. This might be related to VoiceOver which maybe does not
fully support the interface of the Squeeze-Controller app.

Would it be a big thing to make sure that all things in the GUI of the app can
also be done via keyboard? That would help blind people who are using a screen
reading software a lot. Also I've found a few buttons which are not labeled and
the screen reader is not telling me the function of these buttons. Labeling all
buttons with theire recoresponding meaning would also be very cool for that
reason.

I have no idea what caused the writing error in the first line of the

[SlimDevices: Plugins] SqueezeLite ans pulseaudio

2017-06-23 Thread Christian Schoepplein
Hi,

is it possible to use SqueezeLite on systems where pulseaudio is used as
the default output system for sound?

I am running Debian 9 and I am not able to get SqueezeLite to output any
sound, no matter which device I select for output. Maybe the fact, that
I have to use a screen reader software on the system (I am blind and
this is the only way for me to work with the computer), is also related
to my problems, because the screen reader is ofcourse also using the
soundsystem.

I've tryed the official packages of SqueezeLite which are included in
Debian 9, version is 1.8.4, but also a self compiled version of the
current SqueezeLite release did not work.

Has anyone an idea what I could try to get SqueezeLite with a localy
installed LMS up and running?

Hi,

today I was at last changing my setup to also use the new Spotty plugin.
Everything is working fine so far, LMS 7.9.1 on a Debian 8.8 system
running virtualized in a Qemu/KVM. Really cool, A big thanks to you,
Michael, for all your work!

But one thing is not longer possible which was possible before with the
old SBH plugin. I very ofthen add songs to
Spotify playlists by opening the regarding context menu in iPeng on the
screen for the song currently playing. But with Spotty the menu entry to
add a song to a Spotify playlist seems to be gone :-(. Is this an issue
of Spotty, LMS or iPeng?

Also there is a button to star and to love the song which is currently
playing. I was always wondering what these buttons do or if they do
anything at all..., because I was never able to see any change in
Spotify or LMS after pressing these buttons in the past with the old
handler and also with Spotty. Does "star" mean that the track is added
to the playlist with stared songs on Spotify? If yes, it would be nice
to get this button working again :-).

Ciao and again a big THANK YOU to keep Spotify with LMS alive!

Yes. You can use the official Deezer plugin available via mysb.com and it is
also possible to use Deezer via Ickstream. The official plugin supports more
features of Deezer, for example the smart radio.

Yes.

I am not sure, but I think you also need a Premium+ account to use Deezer via
Ickstream.

Yes. I am using Deezer with a Hifi account via Ickstream and I get the music in
flac format. Not every song, but most of them, it seems like some songs are not
available in flac.

- You can search and listen to artists, albums or playlists.
- Playlists, which were created by Deezer, can be played
- Deezer Picks can be played
- Deezers Flow can be played, but for me only 20 songs are in the
playlist generated by the Flow-feature, so it eseems like this feature
  is broken somehow :-(

I am using Spottify with the spotty plugin for LMS to search for new
music or browse genres, artists or playlists. Only for favourite
artists or albums, where I like to listen mor ofthen or longer and
ofcourse in a better quality of music, I am using Deezers hifi abo with
Ickstream. Unfortunatly the features of Ickstream for Deezer are very
limited to search for new music, if this would get better, I'd use it
more ofthen. I am still using spotify, because I started with it and I
have all my playlists, artists, e.g. there. I use Deezer only because of
the hifi quality of the music, which really sounds much better via
my hifi system (Acccuphase amp, speakers from B and the Logitech
Transporter, cables from HMS) then the songs from Spotify. And it is not
even me, which is hearing the better sound quality, also friends can
hear it and we have tested it in blind tests...

Then there are IMHO no reasons to use Tidal via IckStream...

I was not aware of that the official Tidal plugin is able to stream music in

Would it be possible to have this for the official Deezer plugin too?

Yes, AFAIK the music quality. With IckStream you can stream the music as flac,
via mysb.com only in lower mp3 (or whatever) quality.

I don't know the Tidal plugin very much, but I think the mysb.com plugin has
more features implemented (following artists, browsing genres, managing
playlists, e.g.), but if you like to have the music in a higher quality I'd use
Tidal via IckStream.

I was in contact with the Auralic support and they said that they are
using the OpenHome protocol and not UPNP/DLNA itself :-(.

I did and I was not able to find any hint for the ProtocolInfo or
whatever in the xml files I got while I was scanning my network for the
Aries G2.

I can see the OpenHome renderer and I was able to download some XML
files which I can post if it helps, but for me they do not contain
relevant infos to let me integrate the player into LMS :-(.

Any further iedeas would be great.

I thought about a solution where squeezelite sends its output via pulse
audio dlna to the Aries, maybe that could work.

A plugin that acts as a bridge between LMS and OpenHome devices might be
another solution, but my programming skills are not good enough to do
this myself :-(.

do I have any chance to get a player working with the upnpbridge, if the
player is not detected by squeeze2upnp? I've got an Auralic Aries G2 and I
would like to use this device with LMS ansd squeeze2upnp. It seems that
some users have been able to get an Auralic Aries Mini work with LMS, but
I can find nothing related to the Aries G2. I am even not aware of the
cababilities of the Aries G2, maybe it is not able to work as a renderer
which is necessary to work with squeeze2upnp, if I understood correctly...

Any idea how to get the device working with the upnpbridge or how to find

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] ANNOUNCE: AirPlay Bridge = integrate AirPlay devices with LMS (squeeze2raop)

2018-07-02 Thread Christian Schoepplein
Hi,

I am still trying to use my new Aries G2 player from Auralic with LMS. The UPNP
bridge did not work so another solution would be to use the player via airplay.

The following setup is working so far with all limitations given by airplay:

- I have installed SqueezeLite on my Mac Book, the player shows up in LMS
- Also I have installed AirFoul on my Mac Book. With AirFoul you can stream any
sound from an app on the Mac Book to a device which is able to act as a airplay
receiver.

The disatvantage with this setup is that the Mac Book has to be running if I
want to use the Auralic player with LMS. So my question is if it would be
possible to build a rao2squeeze bridge for LMS? Have you ever thought about
that?

You mean when using the Connect feature or using LMS and iPeng? I do not
use Spotify Connect and I do not like to use it as long I can use iPeng
to controll LMS and all its features and plugins this way :-).

I am not sure if I explained the problem correctly..., so another try

If I am searching for an artist and open the view where all Albums,
Singles and so on for this artist are shown, I get also the possebility
to play the "Top tracks" of the artist. This item can't be played via
the context menu of iPeng. Clicking on "Top-Tracks" will open the
playlist and all titles are shown instead. This was different in the
past, there was the possebility to open a context menu via iPeng when
activating the "Top-Tracks" item. Now I wonder why the possebility to
open a context menu for the "Top-Tracks" item is gone and if it is
possible to bring it back maybe :-.

This does not work every time. If I tap on the first item in the
playlist and select "Play all items" sometimes the full playlist is
played, but very ofthen only the first track is selected.

Another reason why it would be nice to have a context menu is that it
takes one step less to play the top tracks of an artist :-).

Slartibartfast explained the problem in his last mail also and sent a

Yes, it happens only if I skip tracks back and for manualy. If I play a

When starting a playlist the first track is played. If I skip manualy to the
second track it is not played. Skipping to the third track would start playing
the song. Skipping to the fourth track causes again no output. It seems that
only every second track causes problems.

When no sound is played I can see in iPeng that pause is enabled, but at the
same time I can see that the time how long the track is played is rising. Very
strange :-).

If if send a AirPlay stream via my iPhone directly to the player I do not have
those problems.

Enabling encryption does not help. It makes things more random I think, because
now not only every second track is not played, but sometimes it works,
sometimes not. But it does not solve the issue :-(.

Can I do something else to solve the problem or to provide more infos to you
regarding the issue?

Thanks again,

OK, the crash seems to be related to the count of players which are turned on.
And they are VoiceOver related.

When iPeng is the only player the app can be started with VoiceOver turned on.

If my Transporter is also turned on, I can see the screen of iPeng for a very
short time and then I am back on the home screen on my iPhone. When VoiceOver
is turned of, it is no problem to start and use iPeng with more then one
player. Strange... :-).

Another issue I have since two betas is that iPeng wants to have a username and
password every time I use the app in my home network. the setup of my LMS has
not changed since months, only some plugins have been actualized. Also the
configuration of my network didn't change. And in earlier betas of iPeng I was
not asked for a username and password...

BTW.: I do not have to fill something into the fields for username and
password, just pressing the cancel button closes the dialog and iPeng is
working fine then. After some minutes the same dialog is popping up again. I
can send a screenshot if it helps to explain things more clearly.

Hm, i didnt get any crash reports, yet (might be delayed).
This is todays beta, right?

Yes, its the latest beta which you have released yesterday.

When I start the app I can see (hear with VoiceOver) the screen of the
currently playing title in iPeng for a short time, then the screen
closes and I am back on my iPhones home screen.

I will do more tests this evening, because this morning it worked. I
started iPeng with no other player turned on, so iPeng was the only

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: UPnPBridge = integrate UPnP/DLNA players with LMS (squeeze2upnp)

2018-11-08 Thread Christian Schoepplein
Hi,

with the newest version of the upnp bridge and the newest beta firmware
of my player from Auralic the device is recognized by the upnp bridge
plugin and I can see a section for the device in the upnpbridge.xml
file.

But what ever I am trying, the player, and also other players which were
visible before, do not show up as players in LMS. I have also a TX-NR509
from Onkyo and this player was visible before, but now it isn't..., even
if I remove all other players from the upnpbridge.xml file.

Has anyone an idea whats going on there?

I saw logs where the bridge was crashing, selecting the static binary
fixed those crashes.

But however, something strange is going on with the plugin.

I've tryed to regenerate the upnpbridge.xml file to be sure to have a
clean file to start from and ahve all found players in it, but whatever
I am trying, the file is not generated. Nothing in the logs why...

After that I deinstalled the plugin, restarted the server, removed the
xml file and installed the plugin again. Same situation..., the xml file
is not generated.

I have no idea what is going on there, but I think trying to get my
player working should be the second step after the problems from above
are clear.

What in detail do I have todo to generate a new upnpbridge.mxl file?
Just clicking the generate button does not work, no matter if autosave
is activated or not.

Sorry for asking such a stupid question, but it is really not working on
my system :-(.

Yes, I know, but there is nothing in the logs.

I set all kind of loging for the players in LMS to debug, but only my

bridge debuging is enabled, but also nothing in the logs.

Please can you tell me what entries in the upnpbridge.xml file are needed

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin

2020-01-18 Thread Christian Schoepplein

Hi,

I am blind and I am using LMS since years via iPeng, which was no
problem till iOS 13 has ben released :-(.

I have a screen reading software activated on my iOS devices which is
called VoiceOver and which is included on every Apple device. That
software is reading out the screen content and lets me use apps,
websites, e.g. if they are developed with having accessibility isues in
mind.

Since iOS 13 I am not longer able to switch between players because
something has been changed by Apple in the way how menus are displayed.
I already have contacted Pippin and he has taken a look, but
unfortunatly he can't fix the problem without big workarounds in iPeng,
so there no quick solution either by Apple or Pipin is possible :-(.

My next idea was to use the new material skin either via my iOS devices
or a computer, but unfortunatly this is also not possible without bigger
accessibility issues :-(. It seems that the skin could be useable with
Firefox or Crome on a Windows 10 system, but with the Safari browser on
my Mac Book I have very big problems.

I am seeing many unlabeled grafics and buttons without an alternative
text description which could be fixed very easy IMHO and which could
improve accessibility a lot because it would be clear to me, which
function is behind a button.

Can this things fixed please so I can give it another try and see how
good I can use the skin with my different devices?

BTW.: If you like to see and get a feeling how I am working with my
computer or my iOS devices, you can either activate VoiceOver in the
settings of your iPhone, iPad or Mac computer, or you can install the
free screen reading software NVDA for Windows which can be downloaded
from . Just test the material skin with VoiceOver
or NVDA enabled and you will see what feedback I get..., or what not :-).

It would be really great to improve accessibility of the material skin
and make it also useable for screen reader users, because it can become
a good alternative to the different apps for LMS and make LMS more
accessible in general.

If I can support somehow and test something, just let me know.

Cheers and thanks a lot for your support,
