I just downloaded SM 1.1.16 for the Mac, and am replying to your message using

BTW, I clicked on Reply, not Compose. Choosing Compose gets me a fresh, empty 
html composing window, and I _never_ use html in answering emails.

I'm not sure what happens after the couponprinting software is
installed.  Just keeps telling me I need the printing software.  If you
reload the page, they think you've printed the coupon and you no longer
have the option available.  This is true with every site I ever visited
for a coupon using the couponprinting.exe method.

Other sites that just display a coupon for printing have no problem.

For example, try to print the coupon from Scotts grass seed at:
scottsezseed.com

Cannot view a file!

I get mail from a cousins husband and he
sometimes sends pictures and stuff but I
can never open it and in the attachment
area all I see is winmail.dat and that is
it.  I am using Vista and SeaMonkey 1.1.15.
He apparently is using a MS mail program.
Outlook?

Any comments tips or help?

Thanks Peter, but I remembered why I could not get along with v1 and its
installing and uninstalling problems. It seems that the Gillik patches no
longer work either.
 I'll watch v2 with interest and stick with FF for now.

yup, it seems they're browser sniffing.  That means 
they're sniffing to see what browser you're using, and 
if you're using anything besides IE or FF, then you're 
SOL. It just won't work with SM.


One way around this is to change you're user agent. 
The UA tells the world what browser you're using, and 
what operating sytem you're using.  For example, your 
UA is:


Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; 
rv:1.8.1.21) Gecko/20090403 SeaMonkey/1.1.16


This tells me you're using winXP [thats NIT 5.1], 
you're using the US version of SeaMonkey, version 1.1.16.


If you install the UA Switcher, then you can change 
your UA and pretend you're another browser, and a 
nother operating system.  You can get it here:

mANY coupons use Adobe (pfd) files.

SO you have to use the printer-icon NOT the SeaMonkey File | Print.

I had exactly the same problem as you this AM.

I tries the Scotts Coupon as well, but I did receive the e-mail with the 
coupon link.  However, like many before it required me to install a 
coupon printer application.  I closed the message and deleted it, I will 
not install special software just because a web site wants to dictate 
how I print their materila.

I normally do not run windows, and run linux instead. However I've been
running WinXPPro (SP3) on a second machine to assist someone
troubleshooting a SeaMonkey issue. I've run into an issue with upgrading
from SM 1.1.14 to 1.1.15 and now 1.1.16 whereby I receive WinXP startup
errors due to SM replacing the MAPI32.DLL in the Windows System32
directory upon each upgrade. To add insult to injury... 1.1.15 & 1.1.16
required reboots.

If I leave the SM mapi32.dll installed, I received the following error
on startup:

WindowsSearch.exe - Ordinal Not Found
The ordinal 49 could not be located in the synamic link library MAPI32.dll.

If I move the SM mapi32.dll (Mozilla version 0.8.0.0) out of the way and
replace it with the original MS version (4.0.835.1374), I no longer
receive the error & SM seems to continue to work just fine. Note: I have
to keep copy of the MS version in a temp/backup folder as SM keeps
overwriting the original - whats up with that?

The Microsoft WindowsSearch.exe is version 7.0.6001.16503.

I seem to recall some discussion regarding Mozilla interference with
mapi32.dll files in the past, but I've been on linux for a few years now
and had thought that any issues like this had been sorted out. Is anyone
else experiencing mapi32.dll issues?

I have SP3 and my mapi32.dll version is 1.0.2536.0. The last time I had 
that issue was 1998, as I realized I have a backup file of the moz mapi 
file in the system32 folder.

Another Question? SeaMonkey 1.1.15 and Windows Media Player Plug-in

Hi,

Wasn't sure I should add my question to the thread above, so I'll start 
a new one. I have the new FireFox plugin installed and it appears to 
work fine when I test it on the site:

I have Media Player 11 installed...

The problem I'm having is with my Dad's website and a piece of 
javascript I am trying to use that plays daily mp3's... The script works 
fine in IE... and in fact works fine on his PC as he has Quicktime 
installed. I don't have Quicktime and would prefer to use the Media 
player plugin.

But I'm still unable to view most pages, and more often than not, get a message on the pages I open saying I need to enable javascript. So, I go back up to edit, preferences, then advanced to check the settings, it's still enabled and I still can't view the page. Do you know why this is happening? Bob yup, it seems they're browser sniffing. That means they're sniffing to see what browser you're using, and if you're using anything besides IE or FF, then you're SOL. It just won't work with SM. One way around this is to change you're user agent. The UA tells the world what browser you're using, and what operating sytem you're using. Then it should no longer replace the file. I'm not sure why the registry entry might be there, just check if it is and report back? Normally it should only exist when a very old IE version (<5.5 as far as I know) was once installed, which can normally not be the case on Windows XP. Bob yup, it seems they're browser sniffing. That means they're sniffing to see what browser you're using, and if you're using anything besides IE or FF, then you're SOL. It just won't work with SM. One way around this is to change you're user agent. The UA tells the world what browser you're using, and what operating sytem you're using. For example, your UA is: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.21) Gecko/20090403 SeaMonkey/1.1.16 This tells me you're using winXP [thats NIT 5.1], you're using the US version of SeaMonkey, version 1.1.16. For Seamonkey, I will save my full Mail folder, my bookmark file, my preference file, and my address books to a separate drive. After I reload WinXP, I'll re-install a fresh copy of Seamonkey. If I start that fresh copy of SM, it wants me to step through the setup wizard, which I want to bypass and just start restore my existing account. Additionally, SM has support for multiple user preferences, but I have a single user system so I want to bypass this also. (Q1) How can I restore my back-up files, select my account as the default (and only) account, and bypass the set-up wizard. (Q2) Am I missing any essential back-up files besides the ones I've listed above that could help facilitate this? Raylee most people will find the QL a useless thing. With todays fast computers, SM starts up very fast. If Quick Launch is enabled then you have to close SeaMonkey down completely, including Quick Launch, QL keeps some parts of SM in memory to quickly launch the SM application, and this may be preventing you form seeing your web pages with JavaScript. Michael Are you sure you have to restart SeaMonkey in order for the Enable JavaScript option to be recognized? I've never had to do that. Only if he had Quick Launch enabled and turned it off. Peter, Another option is Mox Backup to save all his profile data to his desktop, and from there copy to a memory stick, floppy, CD, or DVD. However, that doesn't negate the fact that the SM mapi32.dll causes issues with quite new & recent MS applications. I'd much prefer to find a fix so that SM doesn't interfere with other applications. Further, if you read the bug provided by Philip, there are other, more critical applications that this affects (Groupwise & Outlook for example). Sometimes something as simple as disabling js, restarting SM, then enabling js and restarting can get a pref to stick. However, it should not matter; SM shouldn't replace the file in system32. What I can do, if I find time later this weekend, is to completely purge SM and then reinstall first 1.1.16 (then purge that) and then 2.0a3 again. That way I can determine exactly which one is the culprit. Mark, My point is that if the OP had Quick Launch enabled when the JavaScript would not work on the web page, and he enabled JavaScript the Quick Launch may have kept the original setting in memory and executed the page with JavaScript from memory. Disabling Quick Launch and closing SM then opening SM starts a fresh instance of SM with no instructions kept in the Quick Launch memory. Used fixmapi.exe to replace the mozilla SM mapi32.dll in \system32\ - that version is MS 1.0.2536.0. 2. Purge SM - all (Windows 'Add or Remove Programs) & deleted the \mozilla\ folder in 'Documents and Settings'. 3. Rebooted & installed SM 1.1.16 (complete - no quicklaunch). I only ran a cursory check - browser works & accepted making it my default browser. Checked mapi32.dll - no change, it stayed the same. 4. Created a newsgroup account (news.mozilla.org) and accepted making SM as the default mail application. Checked mapi32.dll - no change, it stayed the same. 5. Purged SM 1.1.16 & \mozilla\ folder and rebooted. 6. Installed SM 2.0a3 (most recent as my copy was a 'pre' version). 7. Repeated 3 above w/2.0a3 - Standard + all Optional Components (interesting license agreement): Checked mapi32.dll - no change, it stayed the same. 8. Repeated 4 above: Checked mapi32.dll - no change, it stayed the same (MS version). If I get time later I can try with the 4.0.835.1374 mapi32.dll to see if that makes any difference + try with my old \mozilla\ data to see if there is something in that causing the issue. If that page has scripts, they work or don't work according to whether JavaScript is enabled or disabled. The change of status for JavaScript is indeed effective when I make that change. There is no "remembering" of a prior status. Occasionally (e.g., with Web pages for the Vanguard Group at ), I find scripts within a page that load external scripts. If JavaScript is disabled while loading such a page, I must reload the page after enabling JavaScript in order to get the full functionality of the page, part of which is supplied by the external script. (I find this really annoying because SeaMonkey temporarily freezes while the external script is requested and downloaded.) I disable and enable JavaScript so often that I have a PrefBar checkbox to do it. I never have to terminate and relaunch SeaMonkey when changing the JavaScript status. -- David E. However, that doesn't negate the fact that the SM mapi32.dll causes issues with quite new & recent MS applications. I'd much prefer to find a fix so that SM doesn't interfere with other applications. Further, if you read the bug provided by Philip, there are other, more critical applications that this affects (Groupwise & Outlook for example). I think it better to spend some time resolving the issue rather than having new users experience issues with applications that they chose to install on their systems.
