Using Gimp 2.6.6 on XP SP3 and all current updates.
When attempting at open the GEGL dialog, Gimp crashes.
Anything else that I try works just fine (so far).
Is this known? Is there a work around?
Gimp 2.6.4 did not crash.

I have tried this work around and the results are the same. The crash still
occurs.
System is a P4 2GB XP home SP3 with all current updates applied.

They do have a precompiled version of gimp 2.2. Go to

I only want to edit the first page of each file (I must
delete some text from the first page of each document)
and then save it.

If the Gimp source distro contained a compatible version of gegl and
babl then compiling from source would be a lot easier. Now my only
other choice is to install Ubuntu or whatever on another partition and
see if they have an updated binar

Gimp doesn't use PCD format. So I have been trying to
convert a PCD image to something Gimp will use, such as
tiff or jpg, using the convert program from Imagemagick. I
have tried various density settings.
Is there a default density to a PCD image? If so, what is
it?

there a way to download the whole shebang in one step or must I
download the individual files one at a time?

Somewhere between GIMP 2.6.4 and 2.6.6, the map color range plugin
disappeared, at least in the Windows build, and I think for other versions
as well. Does anyone know whether this was inadvertent? Will it be coming
back? It was a useful tool. I have recovered it from my old version 2.6.4,
but
it may be more efficient. And if the original is a b/w 1 bit/pixel image,
even more so.
Try to convert to PNG or GIF and check if those formats give you more
logical sizes - they work better with the mentioned image types.
