That's an idea, esp. since they just changed the rules to get rid of public

Hi all,
The Consumerist had an article pointing out how easy it is to unlock phones
[1]. This could be a good thing for me because I travel out of the country for
work, and it would be nice to drop a replacement SIM card in my phone instead
of paying highway-robbery prices for even minimal
Hi all,
I'm spending a foolish amount of time dealing with what seems to be unreliable
Apple software, such as
* Time Machine corrupting backups, and needing backups to be deleted and remade
[1].
* Safari crashing pretty often [2].
* Errors when backing up my iPhone requiring me to throw out

I have it on my iPhone and my wife's iPhone.
There are a few things I like better than previous iOS's, all of which

Hi All,
Like a complete idiot, I updated to Safari 10.0 instead of waiting for Safari
10.0.1. As should be expected from recent major number updates, Safari 10.0 is
buggy: it can crash when going to harmless websites. [1]
I'd advise not upgrading until Apple does a bit more testing and fixing.
Hi all,
I was working along on my 15 inch MBP late 2012 today, when the mouse pointer
disappeared, and shortly thereafter the computer spontaneously rebooted.
Typically, when this type of thing happens, I would expect there to be a kernel
panic. Nope. No kernel panic.
I looked through the

Hi all,
I'm having a vexing problem... I got a Netgear N300 wireless extender. It works
fine except for printing.
To make using the extender as seamless as possible, it has the same SSID as the
router in the basement. This way, all computers and phones will pick up on the
strongest available

I prefer Safari for most things, but use Chrome for sites which force me to use
Flash. This
Hi all,
My reliable use-more-power-than-a-cfl motor-driven outlet timers are all
starting to bite the dust after about 20 years of use. When I looked on-line
and in stores I was excited at first, because they were digital and had no
motors to wear out. Unfortuately, reviews paint them to be
