I recently had a FelV female spayed and she came thru the proceedure
just fine. I too was afraid to do it, but I'm glad I did as she is
a happier cat.

FelV. If she was exposed to FelV I think I need to wait about 6 weeks
til it would show up in the Elisa test, but I'm not sure...

is extremely stressful and this group is one of the few places where
we can go for support.

like he may need Prozac rather than Cypro. Cypro is an antibiotic,
and if he doesn't have an infection, but is merely upset and agitated

Laura, I feel for you I had one like that! He tore up all my
other cats, and it got so bad I had to keep him in one section of our
house. He was about two when we rescued him and we had to do this for
ten years until he finally got so old he decided he'd rather sleep

holes to three outside enclosures. You'd think this would make them

Thanks for the info.. I have always been wary of all those flea
products as they are pesticides, and the warning about us not getting
it on our skin tells the story! A little bit on our skin couldn't

Amy, I've had several FelV cats with back leg problems, and
they seem to know when it's time to stop climbing stairs or
trying to jump up on things. I'd let him do what he thinks
he is up to doing. To restrict him would stress him, and
this is always bad for FelV cats.

Because if a cat was exposed to FelV it takes about 6 weeks for the
virus
I think people should be aware of where their money goes when they
donate to national charities Little of it goes to help animals
and most of it goes to the administrators, who get fat salaries and
never have to see what we rescue people deal with day after day.
The only organizations I give
It seems to be the same all over the country. Most people really
don't worry about what happens to all those kittens they allow their
pets to have. They always have money for everything else, but use
the excuse they can't afford to spay their cat, so those poor little
kittens are either dumped or
I'm sure different vets have different opinions I like
the one your vet has. With 14 cats it's very expensive
keeping up with and paying for all these shots.

The only thing I know for sure is kittens born with FelV usually
throw the virus off or die during their first year. Cats who
are exposed to FelV when older seem to be much more resistant to
the virus. As you said, there really are no statistics to go by
as each situation is different.
