There *is* a small price difference between the VXA-1 and the M2. ;-)
The VXA is priced against DAT and performs favorably. It also does well in
the price/performance game against DLT 4000 and AIT Plus drives. It doesn't
really compete with the M2, nor is it intended to.

The 16 MB catalog limit only applies to file backup sets. The catalog
portion of a file backup set is stored in the file's resource fork. Catalog
data for other backup sets (removable cartridge, CD-R/RW, tape) is written
to the data fork of the catalog file.

The only way to do this is to format the entire volume as a removable
cartridge. Retrospect will then fill it with separate 2 GB container files.
You'll need formatting software other than Apple's Drive Setup. DANTZ DOES
NOT RECOMMEND OR SUPPORT THIS WORKAROUND.
