Hi Steven, You're right that PMU applies to PowerPC hardware only. For Intels, it's SMC (System Management Controller), so search for that instead. Battery Calibration can be a problem -- if the battery cannot guage its capacity properly then you will have premature cut-outs. You can re-calibrate

I've noticed that on my mac as well for the last year or more. When I wake it, it shows what was the screensaver before it went to sleep, then the screen goes off again for a few second before everything's normal. I figure it's a bit like my brain in the morning - takes a bit to get going :-)
