Re: [Audyssey] Mach 1 tts
Hi lenron, Mach 1 tts can be found on my free windows sapi5 text to speech games page. The file name is wincart2.exe. And yes, I have been told that my games with a bit of help do run under Windows 7. Here are the instructions The first thing that you need to do is to run the setup.exe file in the winkit.zip file as it installs files that the rest of the games need. So open the winkit.zip file, press S and then enter. The winkit.zip file is the first link on my free windows text to speech games page. The rest of my games require full administration rights to install. To do this arrow to the games installation file, press the Windows context menu key, arrow to run as administrator, and press enter. This will allow you to install the game as administrator. Or you can just turn off the whole User Account Control thing in Vista or Windows 7 and it will do the same thing. And here is a message about my games and Windows 7. Hello all, I just found out something I hope will help you Sherry, ok you no how in windows 7 we have two program file folders? One is just called program files, and the other is called program files x86, well here is what happen to me. I installed the winkit program and it went into just the program files x86 folder. And when I installed the games they went into the folder. Called just program files. So fined out which one is the winkit one and go to which of the program folders the computer put the games in and copy and paste them into the winkit one it works. Like I found out winkit was in the program files x86 so I went to just program files and copied the games from kitchensinc and put them in program files x86 kitchensinc and then I removed the one in program files. Just deleted the folder. Make sure you are in administrator Hope that helps. Susan I hope that helps. Hi Ben, Sorry, I'm a bit confused. Is it my sentence structure that is wrong, or the amount of fuel that I finished with? If it is the amount that I finished with, that is because I pitted later on the second run. The first run I pitted on lap 25. I meant to do that on the second run, but crashed just as I was getting ready to pit, so didn't pit until a few laps later. Hi Jana, No, Mach 1 tts is not supposed to just start your engine and immediately give you a time for that round. Truthfully I do not know why or how it would do that. I do not believe that it is doing that on any other computer. May I suggest that you try un installing the game by running the uninmach.bat file and then try installing the game again from my web site. I am also a bit confused as to why in your last message you asked about how to run the pit road, as you were getting a penalty when you did. Sounds like the game was running ok then. Hi Simon, I am sorry, but I have never had or even ever seen a side winder logitech wheel. Hi Jim, is this perhaps a bug? If I start the game and want to play a track the first time, it says normally "start your engines". Re: [Audyssey] Mach 1 tts
Hi Jana, Pit road is kind of hard. It takes some practice to get good at it. But basically you press the button to open pit road just passed the start finish line. You will hear it say pit road. You are now on pit road. You will want to turn, brake and down shift so as to get down to 50 miles an hour before you get to the straight part of pit road. Once on the straight part of pit road you need to get over to the side where you here the voice saying "your pit box in, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1." And about the time that you here the number 2 slam on the brakes so that you stop right in your pit box. That is about as well as I can describe what to do. I have a short recording of a pit stop starting just before the start finish line. It is on Send Space. File Name: pitstop.mp3 Size: 667KB | Download Link: http://www.sendspace.com/file/vt44pb I hope that helps. Hi Shaun, Yes, the speech is interruptible in Mach 1 tts just like it is in all of my games, even in the menus. I think that is the way that it should be. I have fixed the not keeping keyboard settings bug and added game options such as three different wall sound options, being able to turn off the automatic speedometer and automatic gear announce, as well as the pit road snacks and track light polls. It's taking some time as it is summer and all. And I still need to rewrite all of the keyboard and joystick configurability stuff because of the pit road option as well as the instructions. I have a couple of more ideas that I am trying to get into version 2 as well. The pit road is really hard to pull in just right without speeding and stopping right in your pit box. But with starting with a full tank of fuel, you don't even have to worry about it unless you are running more than 100 miles or there abouts. Hi Mike, The crowd sound just indicates how close you are to the wall. Now the other sounds, when you are on a straightaway they indicate which way the next turn will be by being on that side. In the turn they indicate which way that turn turns. And both in a turn and on a straightaway the louder the sound the closer you are to the end of that section. And there is the sound of your tires going over an expansion joint at the beginning of each section. And with practice on a track you get to know how many times the sound repeats or exactly when you are approaching the end of that section. HTH I'm glad to hear that you've gotten your steering wheel working. Hi Kevin, Yes, in the first turn of the Chesterland track you want to go at about 25 MPH, The second turn about 75 MPH. And then again as I said you need to be between 100 and 125 MPH for the jump over the swimming hole. Then the last turn back into the front straightaway is one of those that gets sharper in the middle of the turn so you can go in fast, but have to slow and then can accelerate back out of it. I crashed once in the first turn while showing it to a friend and he thought that I ran over the cat. Hi Tim, I paid $100.00 for my Logitech MOMO Racing steering wheel. I bought it from the Microcenter store in Mayfield Ohio. There is a microcenter.com site and I think 21 stores. The steering wheel is a large unit. It's main base is as wide as a keyboard and as deep, but of course much taller. It has three clamps to hold it down on a keyboard tray. It plugs into the USB and a wall outlet for power. The steering wheel is a really nice rubber grip covered steering wheel. There is two fins behind the wheel that you can easily pull with your finger tips with your hands on the wheel. There are 6 buttons on the hub of the wheel and then there is a gear shift knob just to the right of the wheel. Then there is a non skid base that sits on the floor and has the gas and brake peddles. So far I have played Top Speed, Pong, Puppy1 and Mach 1 with it. Puppy 1 was a bit strange though. Pretty sure that Rail Racer also has joystick support. Hi Kevin, I guess the below might be considered a spoiler. On the Chesterland track you want to be in the center of the track. That is between 40 and 60 and then you want to be going between 100 and 125 miles an hour when you hit the ramp to jump over the swimming hole. That is also the only place where the sound is in the center rather than off to one side or the other. I hope that helps. Hi Peter, Thank you. Yes, the Chardon square is on the top of a hill so all roads to it are a steep hill. So that was what I tried to represent with the speed up and then later the slow down. Hi Valiant, I will put the option in so that you can choose between the crowd sound or the wind sound, but personally I can not understand how it is going to make a difference as it is the exact same thing, only a different sound. You know as you get closer to the wall the crowd or wind sound gets louder. That's it. Hi Peter, Thank you for your suggestions. Ok, I will turn the volume of the tire squeal back up when you shift, but I didn't like it louder. Plus you hear it announce the gear and the engine RPM change. And I never found a good gear click sound that worked. Same problem with the brake sound. It is just very hard to find a tire squeal sound that sounds ok when it is played looping over and over. And if you don't use a little brake sound and loop it, you have no idea how long the file needs to be for any and all braking circumstances. But I will try to get a better one in there. You can adjust the volume of the sapi5 speech if it is too loud for you. And of course the different voices themselves are of different volumes. I started the engine sound out loud so that we could play with it, revving it up and making some noise. But I definitely don't want it so loud that I can not hear the rest of the sounds that I am using to know where I am at on the track during the race. You know the crowd and music or other sounds that indicate how close you are to the wall or how far along you are in the straightaway or turn. BFN Jim Why did the bird cross the kitchen? Hi Jim, I just played Mach 1 TTS, and it's lots of fun! Unfortunately I haven't plugged in my game pad to try it out yet, so I used the keyboard defaults. Your description is good but some keyboards put the six pack keys in a vertical configuration instead of horizontal so you should say what key does what as in, Default keyboard configuration. The six pack is usually above the arrow keys. right shift key = speedometer. right control key = track position. lower center key of the six pack, End key, = start engine and say gear. lower right key of the six pack, page down, = say lap. upper center key of the six pack, home key, = play horn. lower left key of the six pack, delete key, = say current elapse race time. left arrow key = steering left. right arrow key = steering right. up arrow key = up shift one gear. down arrow key = down shift one gear. left control key = gas peddle. left shift key = brake peddle. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Hi Jim. Well I freely admit I've been lazy about updates recently, owing to being in egypt and taken up with other matters, but all of your stuff including mack 1 is done now. Personally, I found the game to be honest damnably difficult on a keyboard. I'll freely admit though, racing games aren't particularly my forte at the best of times, particularly ones with such sensative controls. Sinse I already have a monstrous X arcade stick, I really should buy the usb adapter so that I can plug it into a pc, I'm not sure why I haven't, accept that I've actually got used to playing games on a keyboard. And to think when I was 9 and we owned an amigar, playing on keyboard was punishment for anyone who cheated! lol! I'll look forward to more games. While I'll frankly admit Mac 1 is a bit of a strain for me, I've had lots of fun with puppy 1, - perfect for a quick turn on and blast session! Beware the Grue! hi jim, I had this idea, I was thinking about when you shift gears and brake, maybe we could have some better sounds, a click for gears and the sounds of tires squealing when you brake? as for the engine volume, the best stage of the engine volume I like is right after you hear 10 and the countdown starts, and then the sapi pretty much doesn't let me hear the engine that much and I like the engine sound. ok I'm off to get my times better at a particular track! Re: [Audyssey] Mach 1 tts
Hi Charles, But the thing is, with the new sound scheme of Mach 1 tts, the sounds tell you which way the next turn will turn and how close you are getting to the start of that turn. Not just driving down a straightaway and all of a sudden a noise tells you that you have just started into a left turn that you didn't even know was coming. The same with the sounds in the turn letting you know how far along in the turn you are. Now if it is just that you liked the wind echo sound better than the crowd sound, I could make that an option. Hi. I'm unable to hear my engine over top of the croud. Can you make an option to adjust the croud sound independently of other sounds? I'm having this problem with a lot of games. I do have a serious hearing loss, but I think my netbook is doing something because gtc used to behave that way until I changed some settings. Everything is as loud as possible. I turned down the volume but that turned down the engine too which doesn't help. Is the croud sound supposed to play mono? However some of the tracks may be very difficult if not impossible to drive via the keyboard. The file can be found on my free windows sapi5 text to speech games page. Have a good racing day. hey jim. you could write a basketball game just 1 vs 1 it whould be neat, for the ps2 for example i still have a nba game that's just 1 against 1, and it's really fun, i'd love to see a game like this one accessible for the pc. what do you think about the idea? thanks. -Mensagem original- De: "Jim Kitchen" Para: "Angellko21" Data: Segunda, 25 de Maio de 2009 03:42 Assunto: Re: [Audyssey] Mach 1 tts Hi Luká¹, Thanks. hi jim. yeah, that's exactly what i'm asking, the possibility to add these other cars in the tracks just like in mach 1 the old version. you could make a setting to choose how many cars do you want to race against you. i'm not asking for online play since i know it's tow difficult, and in my opinion not necessary for this game, since playing offline is already really fun. thanks. -Mensagem original- De: "Jim Kitchen" Para: "Matheus" Data: Segunda, 25 de Maio de 2009 03:42 Assunto: Re: [Audyssey] Mach 1 tts Hi Matheus, I will not be making Mach 1 tts like Top Speed where you can race against others on line.
