that. I would guess that SimpleCrypt is just some weak XOR or something.
Also, security through obscurity is a terrible thing.
The right thing to do here is to have pluggable security. End of s
not sure the exact date it was cracked, but the AES (next generation
replacement for DES) proposals have already been decided.

Retro is just as easy to use on a small network as a large one.
You just need to scale your hardware appropriately. In other words, don't
backup a 100 person network to a cd-r using a 6
drive, it can backup the whole

Every night when the Retrospect backup gets to "88 files remaining, 12.0 Mb"
on the system volume of my ASIP server, the ASIP server dies. How can I find
out what file Retrospect is reading (or attempting to read) when this
happens? Is there a way to get file-by-file info in the log?
We've discussed many a time on this list the memory handling of Retrospect,
the way it uses system heap, etc. but I don't recall any discussion about
the client. Does it use system heap? Is it better to have VM off or on? Does

disabled software compression. I had assumed Retrospect would detect the

I am getting much better performance from my VXA1 drive now. Manually
disabling software compression (Retrospect is supposed to know if hardware
compression is available, but this does not work in my case), and replacing
a faulty ribbon cable in my external scsi case eliminated most of the
proble

for the Mac OS and use that to mount the UNIX and NT drives on the Mac in
