Another fine day in Point Pelee NP for the last day of the Festival of Birds.
Birding has been quite steady with many warblers and flycatchers being sighted.
There was a report of a YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER, just down the main road to the
Tip south of the Visitor Centre, but it was not re-found
WARBLER was heard near the small gravel parking lot near
the Visitor Centre.
We have not had many reports from further north in the park, but the level of
bird activity is high and widespread, so we suspect that there is good birding
throughout.

Birding in the Point Pelee area continues to be a success on this third day of
the Festival of Birds, despite some heavy rainfall last night and this morning.
It is worth noting that certain areas, particularly the Woodland Trail and the
road going south from the Visitor Centre are a bit

mixture of diving ducks including Surf and White-winged Scoters, a few Black
Scoters, Greater and Lesser Scaup, Red-breasted Mergansers and over 40 Ruddy
Ducks were sighted this morning flying by the tip.

The Festival of Birds is going out with a bang. There are many migrants still
to be seen and heard at the Tip and on the Woodland Trail. 20 species of
warblers have been reported already today, including CANADA, WILSON'S,
MOURNING, YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT, CONNECTICUT, NORTHERN PARULA
WEST BEACH TRAIL; a male SUMMER TANAGER
along the Post Woods Trail; and a MISSISSIPPI KITE over the Sparrow Field.
The CONNECTICUT WARBLER was reported from the Tilden Woods.

the Boardwalk. The weather is beautiful in the Park today.

SANDERLING and RUDDY TURNSTONE were at the Tip the first thing in the morning.
An AMERICAN BITTERN was high up in in a tree on the west side of the park
opposite the half way stop of the tram, but was not seen at 11 a.m.

LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH in the first
slough on the Shuster trail.
A YELLOW-THROATED VIREO is being seen along the seasonal trail just north of
the tram stop associating with a YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER.

male PRAIRIE WARBLER has been dependable just south of Northwest
Beach, along with a MOURNING WARBLER. Just south of there along the west beach
was a CLAY-COLORED SPARROW.

Today is the first day of the Point Pelee National Park Festival of Birds and
the start of the guided bird hikes offered by the Friends of Point Pelee. Cool
temperatures and strong westerly winds continue to affect migration.
An EARED GREBE was close to shore along the east side of the Tip
Hello OntBirders: Today is the last day of the Festival of Birds at
Point Pelee National Park for 2013. The last guided hike through the
Friends of Point Pelee is at 1 p.m. today.
There was a mini-reserve migration going on at the Tip again this
morning involving mostly BLUE JAYS and CEDAR
the Visitor Centre on the Woodland Trail.

A WORM-EATING WARBLER was seen about 100 metres south of the Visitor
Centre, along the Woodland Nature Trail.
